Does anyone have one in their area? If you are a dog owner, would you like such an option?

Have been discussing the idea with a local Taphouse and was wondering if anyone owns or has been to a Taphouse that has a play area for dogs? Any thoughts?

That sounds pretty amazing. I love beer and I love dogs, why not have both at the same time?

Wags dog park in Cincinnati is owned by the same people who own 50 west brew pub, so naturally they serve their own beer, but I believe other locals and macro as well.

I like the idea as both a dog and beer lover but that sounds like a business with very expensive insurance - potential for liability seems high (possibly intoxicated people responsible for a potentially aggressive animal).

Houston has The Boneyard. It's neat.

Dallas recently opened Mutts Cantina which has beers plus food. Haven't been to this one yet.

Overall, it's a great idea IMO. Why wouldn't you want to relax with a brew and chat up some other beer loving dog owners?

Around here, several breweries allow dogs into their tasting rooms. If a place has a kitchen though, the health department won't allow it. I like dogs better than I like a lot of people, so I'm down with it.

There's a restaurant near Nederland, Colorado called Roy's Last Shot that has it's own dog menu. They have a huge patio/deck where we could dine and they brought out a fresh bowl of water for our dog. The dog meals were $5 and quite diverse. As far as the beer selection, it was a limited Colorado craft selection but the food was killer. It's a fantastic place, and we were glad they were so dog-friendly. So in the right situation, this could work.

Well, in SD you can take your dog to the South East corner of Balboa Park, then take them to Hamilton's (or a score of dog-friendly bars/tasting rooms on 30th Street) and even take them to North Bark for a bath/treat.

I intend to attempt to bring this very idea to Portland if possible. I've been thinking about it for a couple of years now, and I'm finally coming to the point where I need to just make it happen.

Nothing worse than that guilty feeling you have when you choose to not rush home to take care of your dog after work in order to enjoy a happy hour or something like that. A place like this would solve that problem, and I think it'd be well received in most urban areas.

Do you think it'd be better to try to build the place from the ground up, or to go and pitch existing establishments to make a dog run add-on to their places?

Sante Adairius allows dogs at the brewery, but it's indoor only and the place is always packed. It would be awesome if there were an outdoor area to let my dog run too.

My favorite local craft beer bar is called LUCKY DOG in Brooklyn. Dogs can hang out at the bar and there's a back yard area too.

Would love to have one in Tucson with a real attached park they can run in. There are a couple with outdoor patios that don't mind when it is not crowded in the off hours, but there is no place for the dogs to socialize or play. That one in Denver looks great, water to run around it and beer!

Beer Thirty in Capitola, CA is that exact concept. It's a fun spot for a sunny afternoon.

Stumptown Brewery in Guerneville, CA has a dog play area next to their large back deck. I recall it had some tables in there as well. http://www.Stumptown.com/
