If you're the groom and you're making a big deal out of what craft beer to serve at your wedding, you probably shouldn't be getting married. You've got a lot more to learn.

Are you getting ripped off on the food too?

If I'm traveling to your wedding; I'm most likely spending a lot more on getting there and staying there than that keg of craft beer you better have waiting for me at the reception.
If the wedding is local, then I am taking the time to celebrate your nuptials, and buying something off your registry from Target or Crate & Barrel, I would appreciate a good beer during your wedding. During wedding season, I could be parked at a beach surfing Assateague, MD, then heading to Burley Oak for some killer beer....

    Hey,
maybe there are people like me attending his wedding and he knows I will junk punch him if I don't get a good beer!

that's the great thing about the information age we live in. you can google the venue and see what they have on tap, or hit up beer menu's or use social media to find out. if that doesn't pan out you can always call the place.

hey, if the bride and groom are BA's, beer geeks or what ever there's a good chance there will be something to drink at the wedding.

you can always ask the wedding couple BEFORE the wedding.

I almost always bring a cooler with me, just in case.

First of all, the cocktail hour is the highlight of every wedding receiption I've been to. The food is usually better and certainly more varied and since you are probably already circulating or want to do so, there's little extra effort to go up to the bar. I have been to a couple of weddings since I've decided that beer is my first choice of beverage and I must say that at one there was nothing but macro beer. Very disappointing. I don't expect several kegs of different beer, but how about having some bottles of Sierra Nevada Pale available for those who can't bring themselves to drink macro beer.

I think this is sort of related. I attended Summerfest over the weekend in Milwaukee. Everywhere you looked there were Miller/Coors tents with absolutely no line. However, the Waterstreet Brewery and Lakefront Brewery lines never got below about forty people at a time. The craft beer passion is not going anywhere anytime soon. I think craft beer is a must at weddings, you don't need several different kinds, but at least offer one or two options.

Not really sure the point of this post. Not all weddings involve large groups of people that pound bud light. Just know your audience, and plan accordingly. We just had our wedding two months ago, and yes, venue and catering were the two biggest decisions, but those were booked months in advance. Wine was ordered after we finalized the menu. Two weeks before the wedding, I went to my local craft beer store and came up with a crowd friendly line up (FW DBA, Trumer, Anchor and Lagunitas IPA). I brought 6 PtEs and Enjoy Bys for those that really appreciate a good beer. I spent a lot more time picking out a bourbon line up, because that was out of my expertise and something that I knew a group of friends would appreciate (turned out to be a big hit). Why judge the amount of time someone spends planning the alcohol line up for their own wedding? If it is important to them, who cares?

Me to catering hall salesman: If I have special requests of beer, can you get it for me?

Nope, everything else is super reasonable. I think we'll get a keg of 312 and Bud Light. We are throwing a party for all our friends and loved ones, so it's not really about what I personally want to drink. I know the majority of people will like these beer options over something "heavier" and I want to please the most amount of people.

Because a Quad fountain is way cooler than a chocolate fountain. BILF strips off and starts splashing around in the Quad Fountain like Homer Simpson. Wife drags him out by the ear.

I home brewed all my beer. An IPA, Pale Ale, Wit and an ESB. Floated all the Corney's and I had a couple of cases of locals as back up.

We host 1 or 2 weddings/ receptions each month in our brewery, and even more rehearsal dinners. It's a pretty cool "industrial" venue when we class her up and with 5-6 styles of our beer on tap at the reception it works out well for all of the beer nerds at the party.

I don't worry about it at all, just always want to see at least something I would enjoy. If not, no big deal. I can usually go with a gin and tonic, scotch, or wine. I enjoy other things than just beer as well.
