Yup it was decent and one bottle was enough for me.

It has arrived in Madison! Rileys just tweeted that they have it.

We've got to wait for distributor's first- MKE's are notoriously bad at getting beer out, especially around a holiday. Expect your favorite shop to possibly get their delivery a day late this week. If distribution is anything like it was for Scream, some shops will have it out immediately and some won't even get it for 2 weeks or so.

Ray's and Discount in MKE are usually 1-2 days behind Madison. Most shops will have it out before the weekend, a few will probably have to wait until next week to get their shipment.

    SOUND THE ALARMS!
Rileys let me know that all accounts will only receive 5 cases! They are placing a limit of one 4 pack. Less than 500 cases of this was brewed.

Only 500? Sounds like brewery is place to go for getting cases then I suspect.

Lots of breweries pasteurize, including their sours. Many breweries choose not to run sour beer through their bottling equiptment, and therefore pasteurize it first to eliminate concern for infecting other beers. As it was mentioned, New Belgium does this with La Folie, Le Terroir, etc.

Others pasteurize sours in order to "lock in" the current state of the beer. New Belgium says this as well. They say something to the effect of "we aged it so you don't have to, and it's ready to drink now".

Not sure which of your (i.e. Riley's) numbers is wrong, but I have to believe there are more than 100 NG accounts statewide...

Unless you got the number directly from NG, don't trust that there are 500 cases in this batch of beer. Distributors and shops often give out unreliable #'s. While it's possible that 500 is the limit, I doubt the brewery would have allowed unrestricted case sales in the depot.

In completely un-related news, 2 bottles each of pseudoSue & Golden Nugget @ Three Cellars, 4pm. This is almost sacrilegious, but I've had about as much pseudo & GN as I can drink this summer.

How do you guys feel about Apple Ale. I drink it once a year, and I usually hang onto a bottle to see how it ages.

I feel the same about their 750mL fruit beers. They're amazingly good for what they are; fruity, but I have a hard time considering them "beer". If I had my choice between a Belgian Red or some Moon Man, I'd take the Moon Man.

I crave Belgian Red once in awhile, but that's the only one. They're good special occasion beers, and great to take to family get-togethers instead of wine/champagne. Also, they are awesome for trades.

In fact, now that CW is starting to distribute their BB series stuff out of state, the NG fruit beers are a mainstay of my out-of-state trades. Until Karben4 bottles, anyhow...

Very excited for Hometown Blonde, such an amazing lager. I think I remember seeing an interview with Dan Carey in which he states it's his favorite beer he makes. As far as Apple Ale, I could take it or leave it.
