When in Key West, you can skip Kelly's (brewpub, beer is only ok, wings are good) but definitely hit The Porch (tell Grubby I said hi; he wont remember me, but tell him anyway).

So jealous of that mago tago, I wasn't able to get some this round and am really looking forward to the next time they bring it out.

@Houser (and anyone else that ships growlers) - I discovered that zip ties are a great way of securing swingtop growlers. In addition to the electric tape to ensure the seal, the zip tie guarantees that the swingtop won't pop open on you.

It sounds like the idea of capping growlers would be even better than this, but growlers like the ones from Tired Hands aren't shaped in a way that will allow capping (at least not with the handheld capper I've got)

Are you planning on taking major detours for beer (or anything else)?

Oh what the hell, I like this concept and accordingly I'll go with 2006 miles.

I am afeeered that I won't get just spiders..........which I can put to good use terrorizing my son and older daughters, but that I will get something I am NOT asking for :grinning: Looks like I will have to forget mail spiders and break out the Arachnophobia clips to keep the kids on their toes.

Seriously all of this spider talk brings back memories of fun we had camping at Myrtle Beach (Pirateland) when I was much younger. We had an Gigantic realistic hairy rubber tarantula. We tied fishing line to it and ran the line around a post across the street and back to where we were sitting by the trailer. the spider was hidden in a bush on our site. Whenever a group of young girls or older women would walk by the street in the evening, we would nonchalantly reel the fishing line in..........causing the spider to run out from under the bush away from us across the street. We usually did it at night so the fishing line couldn't be seen. The screams of terror were fantastic! We laughed so hard and usually the victims came by our site later in the week to see other people get "got". Pure fun!

You can find there regular offerings here: http://funkybuddhabrewery.com/brewery/currently-tap

Each Tuesday they release a limited 32oz growler you can purchase to go. Growlers of their everyday offerings are available 7 days. Each Wednesday they put a limited draft on. Their website has details usually a few weeks in advance. I wouldn't call MBCP a "whale" in south FL as it does make appearances on draft a handful of times each year at Funky Buddha Oakland Park and Funky Buddha Brewery & Lounge in Boca Raton (the original place where it all started). If you have time I strongly encourage you to get up the the original location and pay Morgan & Co. a visit. Their doing great brews and Thursday they usually put a limited release on draft. All small batch stuff. A completely different vibe with live comedy and music several days a week. And lots and lots of hookah.

As far as bottle shops go I think Riverside market (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25334/) is a great place to visit. I'd also do some research in the South Atlantic forums as there have been many threads on that topic in the past. @BuckTuckian

I spent many a night in Pirateland as a wee lad!

You realize that as soon as you participate in one of the BIFs or win one of the LIFs in this insane thread that your address is then attainable. If I want to send you beer, I'll damn sure SWTFIW...and it may be a bit KBSsy

That sounds spot on with my experience last December: the best stuff wasn't available outside the tap room. And as good as No Crusts is, I couldn't really imagine drinking a full growler of it. It's… well… a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in stout form.

The Lounge is so cool, a total oasis of culture in the middle of retirement community hell that can be Boca. My only regret was that I didn't have my uke with me, as it was open mic night. Next year!

I will be in Surfside the end of this month for a week and 1/2! I hope to find some Mexican Cake and some Gose! If you are around I would be happy to bring down some good old PA beer for you. I plan to go to the Pig at Market Commons frequently to see what they get in there.

PS Did I mention that I am 15 Minutes from Pizza Boy?
