This beer is awesome, but for some reason Tyranena's Brewer's Gone Wild series tends to stick around for a while. It might be the partial barrel-aging, but I suspect that it's actually the packaging itself. Couldn't they come up with something more interesting (and attractive) than bright yellow and stick figures?

That's funny, because now I KNOW to look for the ugly bright yellow boxes  It sticks out vs their other offerings.

My first thought when I saw the packaging about 1 1/2 years ago was, "Wow. This beer must be horrible." I think it was Dirty Ol' Bastard? The color/design makes it seem like a much cheaper beer. I think it deters sales from those who have never tried it...

You are probably right - had I not known how good the Devil Over a Barrel was, I wouldn't have bought it based on the packaging. Now that I know, I'm always looking for their Brewer's Gone Wild stuff.

Berres Brothers from Watertown, WI. Beans are added to the aging tank.

I think the stick figures provide a slimming quality...

We have not had bottles in quite some time. Those sold out pretty quickly.

Why would you have a problem with this? Makes it easier to get!

Any hints one what is coming up for later this year? There always seems to be some release during the bike ride in October.

I just hope more Hop ***** isn't on the way, because I still see the last batch rotting on shelves at several bottle shop. Hoping for Who's Your Daddy with actual Indiana distribution.

I would compare it to Victory @ Sea from Ballast Point (which will be here soon). V@
Some shops pulled Hop ***** from the shelves only to put it back on again when Devil Over a Barrel got so popular. I stupidly bought one assuming it was a fresh batch. Whoops. At least I only got one bottle.

I've never had Hop ***** but I'm looking forward to finding it fresh...

It was pretty good fresh. A touch sweet. I'm sure they'll re-calibrate and it'll be even better next time.

I saw some Hop ***** at Discount the other day and wasn't sure if it was fresh or old since I couldn't find a date on it.
It's awesome fresh, but I didn't buy it in case it was a year old.

If it is old, that's not cool that they're trying to sell it like that.

If it's not old, then it's a pretty bad batch. They might have forgotten a case somewhere, they usually do a good job discounting old beer. Anyone know if Tyranena puts dating info on Brewers Gone Wild bottles? I could have sworn I saw some at another shop, too, so maybe a distributor sold some old cases at a discount.

I've never seen a date, but I'm too busy marveling at the case of goodness in front of me.

Each bottle should have the bottling date printed just below the neck label (unfortunately it is black on a brown bottle -- color printing is quite expensive and requires daily operation, not a place we are at yet). It will either say "Bottled On DDMMMYY" or "DDMMMYY Bottling."

Hearing that Hop ***** is on the shelves is disappointing as that would be last year's bottling run. We should be bottling Hop ***** again starting in two weeks. It will have a new 4-pack carrier -- burgundy with stick figures!
