The beer guy at a Binny's I frequent says it'll be here in June.

Gonna hit up Revolution tonight for dinner. What is a must-have draft pour that I might not have access to otherwise? (I have bombers of XV and Sucaba in my cellar at the moment and have had XV once or twice on draft.)

Anyone have any new updates? I am out of town right now, and really am hoping it doesn't come out this week in Chicago.

Someone should make a bat signal photoshop, the Vav signal :stuck_out_tongue:

I have no new information, i just got back from 2 weeks out of the country. Kegs are hitting around the city, so i'd guess bottles arent far behind...maybe a week or two? And those pics from the last page of the giant Parabola stacks were my store, so Marcey St in the City.

My neighborhood store manager, and my friend who runs a small beer section at a grocer, both said they weren't sure but that their orders have been placed. Is there a certain day of the week that releases hit the shelves (in Chicago)?

It will be different for every liquor store. My north side store said they placed their order and it will be here next week. I wouldn't doubt if Binnys was in by the weekend.

I am going to make some calls tomorrow. I am surprised it still hasn't landed anywhere here.

FW is the brewery equivalent to that one friend that, when you call asking where they are, tells you they're on the road, that they're almost there, when really they have yet to leave the house.

    This.

But in all seriousness, I called the beer buyer for Binny's South Loop on Tuesday. He said that the order was placed, and supposedly the distro has it, and that he was thinking it would be this week. Who knows. I'll be in Chicago on Sunday through Friday, so I'm hoping it lasts that long if it does come in this week... or conveniently waits for my arrival.

Not to get too off topic, but has anyone tried the '11 version of Parabola lately? Had a bit over CCBW, and have to say I was a bit disappointed. When it was fresh, it was one of the best BA stouts I've had. But I'm not sure its aging badly or just didn't have a good keg. I've heard other people recently say the same thing though. Seems like the bourbon taste on the finish is a bit bitter. I never had the '10 version, so can't compare it.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience. I have 2 bottles in my cellar and am starting to think I shouldn't age them too much longer.

I recently (one month ago) opened a bottle of 2011 Parabola and it was phenomenal. Better than I remembered. Tended to like it more out of the bottle than on tap (both at Revolution and at the Mash Tun Festival during CCBW). Didn't think it was bitter at all, and I'm looking forward to opening up another bottle side-by-side with 2011 BCBS to see which I like better - I'm trending toward the 2011 Parabola right now.

I had some at the FW tap takeover at Revolution and I certainly wasn't in love with it.

I had 2 each of Abacus and Parabola and finished the last bottles about one month ago. Both were kept in a fridge @ 48 degrees and both fell-off BIG TIME.
Both Abacus(ucabA) and Parabola are beers I, personally, would never stock up on or age again.
Fresh is best in my opinion.
