Congrats OP. Hadn't thought much on this. Am at 50 at the moment. Was always curious about some "weird" (My words) styles, Kvass, etc. A new challenge!!

p.s, don't tell the missus

Kvass is not a beer. It's just that...Kvass. Kind of like Kombucha is Kombucha and not a beer style. Stay away from all the bottled Kvass. The best is homemade. It's very simple to make and there's no brewing required. Just some old stale rye bread, sugar and yeast.

Thanks! Sounds like fun. Who knows, might be my gateway into homebrewing.

p.s, not that anyone should care, but am on 68 styles after misreading data. D'oh!

That's kinda why there's a question mark in the title my good man, I'm loving all the responses with obscure brews from all over the map, keep em coming!! And I couldn't agree more with you on the never ending quest:slight_smile:

I've had all the ones listed here on BA except Kvass. But, as others have mentioned, the list here doesn't even begin to scratch the surface in places like the Czech Republic and Germany. Hell, what falls under "Kellerbier" could easily be divided up into nearly 100 different "styles."

Have them all, the happoshu I didn't really consider that realistic, it was more upscale if I could say that, but at least it was good.

Love the obscure Polotmavy style, had only a handful, but lord they were some of the best beers I've ever had.

That's awesome, OP. Kudos for being willing to try every style you could find. I never even paid attention to how many different styles I've tried since getting into craft beer and it looks like I have had 59 so far. Which style is your most liked and most hated?

Anyway, it looks like I have quite a ways to go, so OFF TO THE LIQUOR STORE! Thanks for the new challenge and assisting my financial descent to bankruptcy! :astonished:

I will have to see if I wrote down anything for that beer. It was on Monday, the last day of Max's Belgian Beer Fest, which was Sour Day. I had a ton of sours that day (maybe too many), but it was among my first sample orders. It definitely had some tart/sourness to it, but outside of that I can't really tell you much. I remember really enjoying it though.

Yeah, Kvass is weird for being on here. I've had some good commercial examples, but none of the ones listed on here with some ABV to them.

I'm actually just about to brew some Kombucha soon (got my SCOBY), thanks to my local fermentation shop, HEX Ferments (stop by all you MD BA's), if you want some crazy good Kombucha, Water Kefir, Slaw, Kim Chi, and other great naturally fermented foods.

It was never really a quest of mine, but a quriosity and a quick count puts me at 93 over 14 years of craft brew drinking. Damn. I should find the others and just knock it out

I hate to say it but I'm typical when it come to taste, I love my IPA's, big stouts, BW's and Quads, dislike adjunct lagers, malt liquor and weizenbock's of all things seldom impress.
What's next? all of the above and them some!!

I'd like to complete said quest but that would entail drinking and reviewing an American light lager ...

Starting over sounds like an awesome problem to have! Nice work as I'm sure it took some effort.

BTW top 10 styles? What lessons are you walking away with from this journey?

Pipeworks in Chicago is really creative with their styles and what they add in their batches. The most recent unique one I saw was inspired by a margarita, sadly I can't remember the name or even begin to categorize it as a "style"... Definitely worth a look at though
