Thank you very much for the compliments on The Northampton Brewery; we're glad you like the results! Janet is an awesome client and we enjoy hanging out there as well. And quaffing a few ales while we take in the views.

We'll definitely be keeping everyone posted on The Alchemist's new brewery progress, both here and on the company platforms. And, yes, there will be renderings and photos too!

The Stowe reporter has recently run a couple of op-eds on the traffic congestion in town, one on June 26th and one on July 3rd. The permitting of The Alchemist's new facility has prompted new discussion around this ongoing and pre-existing situation; it's good to get all of these aspects examined openly and fairly. This is what foresight and planning are all about. Per our charge from the Kimmich's and as professional designers, the team working on The Alchemist's second brewery, headed up by construction manager Mark D'Angelo, is committed to realizing the end result in the best possible manner, for all concerned. That willingness and guidance will help this project to succeed.

I was in Stowe on Saturday night of this past holiday weekend, at both Spruce Peak and establishments on the Mountain Rd. and it was incredibly dead at 9pm! Maybe everyone was at the mountain watching the fireworks, but I was really surprised! This project will benefit the town in the best possible way, IMO.

An article today on StoweToday.com from the Waterbury record about Ben Keene and his book "The Great Northeast Brewery Tour", combined with a look at Waterbury's being at the center of Vermont's craft brewing movement, makes passing reference to the Alchemist and Heady Topper. Ben is a recently appointed managing editor here at BA - he knows his beer. Some interesting perspectives on the whys and wherefores of the American obsession with IPAs.

On The Alchemist front itself, we're starting to prepare for the Vermont Act 250 district submission. Most of that procedure has to do with engineering and land use, not architectural design, although we will have a bit part. Soon after, the real work begins and we'll have boots on the ground.

I was there the same weekend, and if you went to the fireworks, you would know why mtn rd. was dead. Traffic leaving both displays Friday and Saturday was like leaving a music fest.

I should know. I'm very close to finishing a bachelors.

Maybe I should have worded that in a way that reflects fierce competition for certain jobs.

I hate to do this but... Just found a link to the "other" site, which sheds some light on what John Kimmich was doing in the UK while we were at the Stowe DRB hearing. Seems everything worked out, on all fronts. Hopefully someone here at BA will get this posted soon!

A nice review of the Alchemist/Adnams collab called "The Alchemist, Enraptured" showed up on the Adnam's blog today, so I started a thread over on the Regional/New England forum. Only available on the other side of the puddle, so a British reviewer will have to step up and do the honors.

Bummer it's only available in England. At least they can experience the genius that is John Kimmich.

had the luck & joy of being on a VIP tour of the Alchemist brewery by John & Jen and first off...what amazing people. So down to earth, easy-going and fun...not to mention amazing hosts. Talked to Jen for a while about their new location and she said things are going well thus far...although she got a call from her lawyer half way through, but she came back with a smile.
I really can't wait to see what you guys come up with! After touring the Waterbury cannery, my only thought was fermenters, fermenters, fermenters and more fermenters...seemed like things could be so much more streamlined.
Really wish Stowe could insert a round-about...

Kind of a big deal. Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin posted this on Facebook. Heady Topper is a poster child bar none.

This part made me giggle a litte

Can you imagine all the people loitering around trying to get a whiff of heady topper?

not worth a thread but I want to give a shout out to the BA community. I waited on line Friday for HT at the Hunger Mt Coop in the sun for almost two hours (first of all to my kids who waited for me) and I met some excellent people on line who I felt like I knew my whole life after five minutes and who made the wait a pleasure. Some great people on this site. Thanks.

Not a lot of substantive show-and-tell yet on the new Alchemist brewery project, but administratively things continue to progress. We continue to work through the permit process, making some early design refinements, nailing down the program requirements and finding solutions. It's the "getting one's ducks in a row" phase, but crucial to success when the tap-lines are finally opened.

On the permit front, however, the application paperwork to the District 5 Environmental Commission for the VT state level Act 250 Land Use permit is to be submitted this week. When the application is complete and all parties have submitted required materials (we've got ours in!), it will be placed on an agenda for hearing. Hopefully this will be in late August. Once all permits are secured, there's a green light to break ground. Having held back until this point (fiscal and practical constraint), we will have to scramble to get construction-ready documents and drawings together very quickly. Then the vision will start to become reality...
