Its too much work to type the extra "nsin" and capitalizing WI is pretty difficult as well.

And thank you Chicago for Half Acre, Revolution & Pipeworks. You guys make up for the small breweries that Milwaukee should have but doesn't. Yet. (Had my first Brenner's Beer yesterday and it was delicious).

It's easy to type and people understand what I'm saying. Plus, I kind of like it. Like MKE. Or PDX.

Well spoken @robear, we can all get along and share great beer together! That's what it's all about!
    Cheers

I trade too but even so I manage to not go through multiple cases. You can assign whatever reason you like to buying that much but it doesn't make it right. You also don't owe anyone an explanation for how much you buy it just seems so arbitrary to me the way people purchase beer. I purchase beer as needed for trades. Its wasteful to me to buy beers in anticipation of trades in the amounts people are discussing. Its one thing to enjoy beer and share it its another to go out of your way to buy as much as you can get your hands on with no regard for how much you actually enjoy it.

If I see someone who was able to buy a case or two of their favorite brew or favorite style from their favorite brewery good for them. Its just I don't see any justifiable reason to be doing it all the time with nearly every beer except when its something like a spiced ale. I support good brewery's with my money not just when they make things I can trade and cellar.

This thread is hilarious. Omg sour beer talk must insert opinion even though nobody cares. People giving honest feedback about their personal experiences, panic!!!!

I wish people had the sense to idk maybe contribute something meaningful then decide if you want to continue thoughtful dialogue nope not you. I can only imagine what your next "contribution" will be like.

My reasons are simple. I enjoy the beer, and I drink at least 6 4-packs of the Thumbprints I enjoy while they are available. I share them with friends or my fiance or my family. So it makes more sense, financially for me to buy a case.

Second, I have some great friends in both San Diego and New York. We send beer to each other almost automatically. We don't phish for trades and we don't try to land whales. I know about a half dozen who would appreciate a beer like Oud Bruin. So, again, it makes more financial sense for me to buy a case. I could have easily gone in to several shops and purchased 12 4-packs over 12 days, or all on the same day for that matter. But it would have cost me more and taken more time. So I send out some NG love to the coasts.

Because I have my reasons, I can't get upset about someone else buying 2, 3, even 4 cases. Maybe they truly love the beer. Maybe they have friends who love it. Who cares? There is plenty to go around. When there isn't, you'll see shops limit purchases. Some dudes will still find a way to collect cases full of rare beer. That's their thing. Some guys will collect comic books, some guys will collect baseball cards. Some of us collect old cars. And when you, or that other guy, invites me over to help pull the transmission from that old car or to sort out those old baseball cards or comic books, I'll bring along some good beer to share. That's all there is to it.

You gotta pay the troll toll, buddy. This has been one of the more on-topic threads on BA for awhile. Not gonna let you de-rail it.

Dan Carey is teaching folks in Wisconsin how sours work- he's truly interested in educating the people buying his beer. If you ran into him at the brewery he'd answer any question you had. Why's it sour? What's the difference between sour and tart? Why pasteurize a sour beer, won't that stop it from maturing? Or email him. And then share some of that info here. From this thread, I learned that some folks are getting a metallic taste from this batch of beer. So, we try to figure out where it's coming from. I might think,"Nah, it's not the caps, even if they rust a bit," but someone else might want to know why. So, I tell them, "It's because that rust is external, and rust is pretty common in caps, especially if this beer was stored in any sort of humid conditions (which it may have been- not sure if they stored this cold or at ambient temps).

And I think it's pasteurized because the sourness isn't the main focus of this beer, it's the malt body and the intricate sugars we're getting towards the middle of the beer. I think those will deepen with some oxidation over time. But someone else may disagree. That is why this thread exists, and why BA exists in the first place.

Some deep thoughts in this thread. Jack Handey would be proud.

Its clear that I am unable to communicate my point to you adequately so in my last and final attempt let me just say that my complaint isn't the amount people buy alone its when its coupled with this shoot first ask questions later mentality that is all it seems your trying to justify why you buy as much as you do and it doesn't really matter to me honestly. I just want people to see that that mentality makes everything worse for everyone. You are right though there is plenty to go around we just like to make sure we make the decision as too where it goes.
Educate me on what a thoughtful contribution is? Is it more along the lines of a post like yours? Should I just use some more sarcasm?

If making an attempt (however futile) to improve a behavior that I see as detrimental to our own hobby or to get beer advocates to actually respect, rather than covet beer, like we are supposed to then I guess I am the asshole and I truly do apologize to you.

Have a buddy up in Green Lake this week, and he's looking for some Scream. Any thoughts on places nearby that might have it?

Pick n Save in Ripon would probably be a good bet.

It's the same reason people from out of state abbreviate Madison. They can look down on you for not knowing what the abbreviation means even though you live there and nobody calls it by said abbreviation.

Started to become more common the last couple years I think.

I'll take it over "Sconnie" any day...

Sconnie is a well known, widely accepted nickname and is a far better than "Wisco." People from Wisconsin should embrace it. "Wisco" sounds lazy and unintelligent, especially since no one uses it.

[sarcasm]Ok, for piss sake, just use something anyone frickin knows like WI for Wisconsin if you don't want to type out the whole thing. Also, know your airport codes like MSN and MKE, gees, a LOT easier than writing out Madison and Milwaukee........[/sarcasm]

We really need a font or a color for sarcasm...........
