You have awful "friends," regardless of what type of beer they took.

I feel your pain brother twizzard , learned the hard way myself .. now I move my stash from the garage fridge to the basement and move up the Bud Lite & Miller Lite. when the leave I just consider it part of the clean up process move out the Bud & Miller and relocate the good stuff back to the beer fridge. Oh and not to mention when I did share, I loved the fact how they had so many comments about my stuff how horrible it was bitter ect. I just say in my Dickish voice "well when I drink water I just usually prefer water & when I drink BEER I drink " BEER " "

Any time that you "invite" people to a party be aware that they will "invite" themselves to partake in whatever they can get their hands on............. BYOB or not

Sorry man. I don't have any friends that don't like good beer. That being said, they drink all my good stuff by default. Being a BA can be expensive at times.

Sucks you got raided by Bud Light guys, what would really piss me off is knowing they're drinking your HT/ Ghandi/ Lawson stash and making faces at every sip and commenting on how much better their piss beer is. After I saw the first beer show up in someone's hand I would have removed every damn can and let them make a beer run to 7-11.

I've had a few party goers do this & stupidly despite my warning that the choice stuff was way higher in abv they chugged & LOST not long after words either passed out, too drunk to drive OR ended up painting their shoes...

Lesson learned! But holy shit, I didn't think this would be heavily read thread. The only point I was trying to make is/was that everyone at the party knows goddam well what I like to drink. AND after offering just about everyone of the offenders a craft beer over the years, I know goddam well what they do not like(craft). That's why it was BYOB. Next time I'll have a case of BMC available for those who run out.

Lots of haters on BA lately.

What probably happened was they got lit up and then all of a sudden were non-discriminatory about the beer they drank. They don't see beer as a sensory experience, it is merely is a vehicle to get intoxicated.

While beer does an excellent job of doing that, it has so much more potential!

That sucks, but it's sort of your fault. I wouldn't put beer in a place that my guests have access to if I didn't want them to consume any of it.

I am always happy to share my "good" beer with my drunken buddies (though them asking before imbibing would be nice), this drunken crafting is how some of my friend converted over to full-time craft beer enthusiasts.

On the other hand my friends and I have the type of relationship that is I was actually bothered enough to say something it would go like this.

Me, "Hey asshole you owe my a six-pack of ZD."

My friends, "You want the beer itself or some cash?"

I always do the dissapointed walk after a party looking at great beer that wasn't finished.

I can't complain much though because I get spoiled every time I throw a party. SOOOO much beer gets left. Last time I ended up with an extra keg of Kuhnhenn beer that someone brought and about 50 excellent beers.

But, the two that I won't forget are: a bottle of BCBS that had a sip taken off the top of it and was left and half a bottle of founders better half that was miraculously found on the shelf and was two years old. It is a little worse though when its home brewed stuff because I get really bummed when my time is wasted.

Nastiness? I didn't see anything overly nasty. He asked for people's opinions and they gave them.

I feel for you @twizzard ! And he is one of the most selfless BA's on here!
Just goes to show that people can be such hypocrites! Although I can see why it would be surprising that your guests tapped your beers for themselves.

"Blech! Your beer is too bitter, too sour, too heavy! How can you drink that?!"
Which to me just means: "Your beer is too flavorful. I would rather just drink my cardboard and grass/hay flavored water."
Until..."Oh wait!! I'm outta my beer let's go see what's in the fridge, because I came to this BYOB picnic ill prepared."

I hide my "keepers" before people get here, but usually I buy decent but less funky beers for the picnic's we have here. Family and friends know what to expect before they get here and know they need to bring their own, but they also know that what is in the fridge....IS MINE. A lot of times I will take me keepers out of the fridge and put them in an extra igloo cooler in my basement, too.
