Good Red Ales are hard to find in Michigan. I really like El Rojo from Griffin Claw lately, even though it is a bit of a Red/Brown hybrid. I recently tried Fixed Gear from Lakefront in WI also, it was very good.

I love Alaskan Imperial Amber, Lucid Duce (oak aged!), and Summit Horizon Red IPA (admittedly one of those 'colored' IPAs).

They usually don't get mentioned because they're not Lunch, but Zoe and Red Wheelbarrow from MBC are both fantastic versions of the style.

Yes...love the style. One of my favorites. Green Flash Hop Head Red is not mentioned above. I would say my fave is Lucky 13. Red Wheelbarorw is awesome, as mentioned above. Recently had Tongue Buckler from Ballast, which was a huge disappointment.

Hop Head was mentioned above. Missed it first time around.

New Almaden Imperial Red by Santa Clara Valley Brewing Company is actually The Best Red Ever. Now you know.

Red IPAs ARE my favorite style. Tied with American Strong Ales. I love caramel/toffee sweetness in beers and these two styles, in my opinion, showcase that the best.

    My favorites:
    1. Evil Dead Red - AleSmith
    2. Nugget Nectar - Troegs
    3. King Crimson - Peak Organic

**Red's Rye PA - Founders (I am not a fan of rye, so it is not in my favorites, but this is perhaps the best constructed beer for the style that I have ever had)

    I don't get calling a color a style.

I've had many red ales and they vary wildly. Some are similar to IPAs, some come off like APAs, some are quite malty. When I see a beer that is labeled an IPA, I have a general idea of what to expect, although individual beers may have some variation. Ditto Stouts, Pilsners, Bocks, etc. Reds seem only to be similar in color, just like "Amber ales." Neither are beer styles IMO.

If you ask me if I like Red Ales, you'll have to specify which one you mean.

I visited Great Lakes in 2011, and we got a flight of all their drafts at the time. This (pub only) was by far my favorite. Maybe not the style overall, but I've been thinking about this one ever since.

I dig reds, though unfortunately I feel like reds (and browns) often get overlooked and forgotten

As a matter of fact, I had one tonight. Honestly though, I've only really had 2(3) reds. But I've really liked them. One was from BJ's and the other from Karl Strauss. I haven't really been able to find any others. I'll be looking out for the recommendations here.

Finally got around to signing up so I could make this post.

Anyways, O'hara's Irish Red is pretty good, definitely more flavorful than Killian's.

Rebel Red from Franciscan well is great too, but I'm not sure about it's distro.

I was going to include that one but think of it more as a Red IPA - whatever it is I like it a lot

I was a big fan of Lagunitas Imperial Red and Nugget Nectar naturally.

But the one beer that mas me psyched for the fall beer season is Great Lakes Nosferatu.
