Picked up a 4-pack in Houston this passed weekend for only 7.50. Great price point for a double IPA. I took a sip from the can initially and it tasted like I was taking a sip of pineapple juice from one of those little Dole cans. It also seems much more sweet than usual. Is this style still a double Rye IPA like it was a couple of years ago or has it since changed?

    7.50?!?

They're 9.99 up here in Dallas, and have been since release in April. It was a Rye, but they changed the recipe and now release year round.

$7.50 at Specs, I believe. (FW Eastchase location)

I bought a 4-pack last week. It had diacetyl problems. Disappointed me.

The 6-pack of IPA was great. First time I've bought it in at least a year or so...and I was pleased.

The IPA is usually pretty damn good. A little off every now and then. Interestingly enough, had it on tap at the brewery this weekend and wasn't really overly impressed with it.

They had a brewer change since the first round, and it looks like the branding does not mention it being a Rye IPA anymore. Here is some blog info about the most recent batch (from Deep Ellum):

    DREAMCRUSHER
    DOUBLE IPA
    8.7%ABV 100+IBU

A quantum leap beyond our IPA!

It’s no secret, at DEBC, we’re quite fond of hops. Citrusy, piney, floral and fruity hops are at least a third of the reason we got ourselves into this whole brewing adventure. Hops may be the current ruler of the craft beer scene, and we, for one, welcome our resinous, spicy, bitter overlords. We’ve taken the IPA to its Event Horizon. Get the picture? It’s hoppy!

    Style: Double India Pale Ale
Hops: Magnum, Summit, Apollo, Liberty and MANY more!
Malts: Pale Ale, Vienna and Honey Malt
    Yeast: SanDiegoSuperYeast
    Other: Raw Cane Sugar
Packages: 50L, 1/6th BBL and 12 oz 4 pack Cans

What a bummer, the Rye recipe was really quite good.

This recipe is not good. Rye was better, imo
