which will feature more like 450 different beers, all brewed within the Free State of Bavaria so it's all Bayern and Franken. It all goes down in Wolkering (near Bad Abbach, just south of Regensburg) and you'll miss it at your own peril.

Next weekend there's also the "Bierbörse" in Mainz. As close as it gets to a decent beer fest round here.

Or skip the Bierbörse all together and spend the weekend in Regensburg!

I went to the Bierbörse in Mannheim and didn't think much of it. I think they have different beers in different places, though, so perhaps it was Mannheim's fault.

Stahlsturm, unfortunately I won't be able to make it down. I move back in two weeks and there is stuff to do. Stuff to do.

Missing your last chance for an authentic Bavarian beerfest ? Your choice... You know you'll be weeping in your pillow over that for decades to come :grinning:

Fest der 100 Biere is great. Can't make it this year, but hope to get back sometime soon. Really soon!
The dates for this year's fest are quite different from last year's, though. I wonder what next year's dates will be. Might make planning for it a bit difficult.

Hans had massive problems with the IRS because they wanted to tax his donations and it was up in the air for month if there would be a fest at all in 2014. Plans for next year will largely depend on the success this year I'd assume but it's quite possible he'll go back to the April date in 2015.

Been to the Bierbörse this afternoon. Had a Belgian Blonde (La Chouffe 4/5), an English Pale Ale (Old Speckled Hen 3/5), a Belgian Gueuze (St. Louis 3/5), a Czech Pilsner (Radegast 2,5/5), a German Pale Ale (Fitza Bräu, 3/5) and a Pilsner (Kreuzberger Klosterbier 4/5). Quite a good line-up for a mainstream beer festival. There was a "craft beer" stand with a couple of more or less local PAs, IPAs. There were two or three Belgian stands, one with English beers. No American beers at all.
Overall, it was a very nice Sunday afternoon...
