I know this thread pops up every once in awhile but I'm mainly looking for bottle shops/bottle recommendations, rather than bars. I'm definitely going to Cigar City but I've already had Jai Alai, Tocobaga, Maduro Brown, Expresso Maduro Brown, Jose Marti, Humidor IPA, and Sculpin.

What should I get that's good or new that I can't get in Georgia or Tennessee?

Will I be able to find some Victory at Sea Vanilla Porter?

And if anyone is interested in an in person trade I can get you some stuff from Georgia before I leave. Let me know.

CCB just released a couple new brews last week that are tasting room only. Homefront IPA is decent but nothing mind blowing, however the proceeds go to a good cause. 110K+OT Batch #5 is very tasty, I recommend getting a bottle or two.

As for bottle shops... There is a Total Wine right around the corner from CCB, they usually have one of the best selections of bottles in the area. There is also a Whole Food in the same plaza as the Total Wine. I was in the Whole Foods on Thursday and they had about 10 bottles of Victory At Sea. If you don't find VAS there send me a BM and I'll give you a few other locations where you should be able to find it. I've seen it at Total Wine as well but not on Thursday when I was also in there. In Brandon there is a store called Kingdom Liquors that has a pretty solid bottle selection as well. Most ABC Liquor Stores in the area have a small but usually fairly decent selection of bottles as well.

Yeah I heard about 110K+OT Batch +5...might try it on tap and if I like it I'll grab a bottle.

I've been to that Total Wine and Whole Foods but the Total Wine was out of a lot of stuff I wanted the last time I went. The Whole Foods had the last bottle of Sculpin so I grabbed it. Good to know about Victory at Sea. Thanks man! I really want to try that.

I've been to Kingdom the owner is a cool guy. I'll check out the ABC Liquor Stores.

Any other breweries you recommend besides Cigar City and Ballast Point that are really good?

It's hard to list breweries for you when I don't know what exactly you can get up where you are. Even using seekabrew, there's so much regional variation as to what is on the shelves it's difficult to list things you should look for. If you want to make a shopping list using an online inventory, use the Total Wine or Lueken's website (http://www.luekensliquors.com/store/). Even if you don't go to either (and Lueken's is further away) it'll let you know what should be around.

If you're going to be in Brandon, you can go to Kingdom, find the beers/breweries that you can't get where you are, and talk to the owner for recommendations with the beers you aren't familiar with. IME, he doesn't hesitate to tell me if he doesn't think a beer is particularly good.

The Star Liquor on 301 has an OK selection, but unlikely they'll have anything Kingdom doesn't. They say they're going to significantly expand selection, but it hasn't happened yet. Winthrop Liquors is down the street from Kingdom - tiny store, but they DO tend to have a few beers that you can't find anywhere else (they're the only place I've seen Lectia Divina in Brandon). Rt. 60 Liquor usually has a few different bottles hanging around as well.

Yeah I know I was just trying to get a general idea.

Thanks for the info on Star Liquor, Winthrop Liquors, and Rt. 60. I might just hit up everything in 1 day to get as much stuff as possible.

Ended up getting a six-er of Jai Alai that was bottled a week ago, Bolita, Ballast Point Big Eye IPA, Sea Monster, Victory at Sea, and Lost Coast 8 Ball Stout.

You passed on the 110k batch 5? That shit is delicious. My favorite CCB non stout to date.

Glad you found your victory at sea though. Excellent beer.

I had it on tap at the brewery...meh. Too much alcohol in the taste.

I got the LAST bottle at Whole Foods...I got them to hold it for me.
