Just thought I'd alert anyone in the metro Philly area looking for Clown Shoes Ride the Lion, just picked up two bottles at Wegman's in Cherry Hill. Several bottles still on the shelf.

I do. Not sure why everybody always puts them down. For the price and availability they are great.

I got two bottles last week, had one, its not backwoods bastard, but its damn tasty. Most likely will pick up 2 more bottles this week, if they aren't sold out yet.

I had their Billionaire recently and it was outstanding! I think they don't get the respect because their stuff is relatively easy to come by and don't make good trade baits.

Well...they could be good for trades to states that don't receive their beers.

I think Clown Shoes gets attention solely because they make a lot of big beers with flashy labels and names. I'm not saying their stuff is bad, but it's just rarely anything worth talking about. Their Billionaire was pretty enjoyable though. Wasn't trying to find another bottle after I drank it though.

EDIT: Oh and they are very reasonably priced. So I'll give it to them for that.

I'm turned off by their gimmicky labeling and beer names, but they do make good beer. "Good" being the operative word, as in, not appreciably better than many other beers, and certainly not in the upper echelon of breweries. I don't see any reason to put them down as they are a solid brewery, but they don't make anything I would regularly buy.
