A nearby bottle shop I follow on Facebook just got an ungodly number of cases of Southern Tier Imperial Pumpking and just said that they will be getting Mad Elf sometime in the next few months (sounds like it'll be a bit earlier than the usual mid-Oct release). So, looks like you are in luck! Stuff is already starting to shift yet again.

Don't worry, I hear it's going to be like 40 there this week. So you should be all set.

Is it as good as it was last year?
Same here my man, but the fall has many other offerings that are terrific. Autumn is my favorite "beer" season (as well as my favorite season overall), and I don't buy one stinking pumpkin beer throughout the season.

As far as summer seasonal beers are concerned, I'm not much of a fan either (SN Summerfest is an exception). With that said, there are plenty of year round offerings that pair well with a summer night. Pilsners, dortmunders, maibocks, kolschs, American/European pale lagers, blonde ales, heferweizers (and their dark cousins), saisons, American pale ales, and Weihenstephaner Kristall Weissbier all do a good job of keeping me patient as I await what the fall has in store for me.

Yeah, I'm with you. I guess my post did sound like I was completely denigrating the fall season because of one type of offering. Didn't mean to infer that.

Maybe you'd enjoy summer and summer beers if more breweries were on the ball and pumping out Berliner Weisses and Goses. Both beers are perfectly light and easy to drink by the ton without feeling making one feel like a suckled pig.

Don't ask for fall to come more quickly, ask your local brewery to brew these beers! Less Session IPAs, more goses!

**** None of my New Mexico breweries are making either beer right now. It sucks.

Dog Days, Akari, Wet Hot American Summer, Apocalypse Cow. And then all the non-locals - I've been drinking a lot of Rad, Oberon, Easy Jack, Dancing Man...

    No, no, no...Autumn can wait.

The polar vortex "cold spell" hit us here in Moneyapolis and the All Star Game is on, so I can practically see the out of towners lining up outside of Town Hall for the barrel-aged week...

Seriously though, there's two package stores within stumbling distance of my house that never get the previous year's Oktoberfest-style biers credited-back from the wholesaler, so they are there collecting dust as I type this.

The good news is Samuel Adams Oktoberfest is rolling out to wholesalers as I type this, as well...

Most "seasonal" beers are only considered such because the brewers decide to label them as "seasonal." I doubt anyone would be moaning about pumpkin beer in June or July if they didn't already have the idea in their head that it was the wrong "season" for such a beer.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the summer releases right now, though I can't wait for some fresh Märzens to hit the shelves.

Fall styles are underwhelming but atleast it means winter is coming! I agree w OP, on long island there is a couple bars i frequent that quite literally shat on my senses with all the amazing stuff i got to try...the last few months have been soft, to say the least though

I love the summer seasonals. Many more Pilsners and Kolschs around. That makes me happy. While I dig the oktoberfests Autumn brings, I could do without all the brown ales and pumpkins that tag along (though I'll have some every now and then).

I think Pumpking is due out on the 21st as well. I agree that it's just way to early for this nonsense.

I was introduced to Saint Arnold's Pumpkinator last fall. The only Pumpkin beer I could really get behind. Looking forward to scoring some this year as well!

The maltiness of Fall helps alleviate some of my palate fatigue from all the Summer hoppiness.

I hear that. I usually go back east once a year in the winter for the holidays, and never can buy enough. The struggle is real

Funny, I was just on Facebook and saw Southern Tier's post about Pumking releases and then I come over here and find this post. Autumn is my favorite season all around I love the cool weather and foliage AND the best beers. Southern Tier Harvest and Spaten Octoberfest are two of my favorites and Sammy Adams has had some pretty awesome fall beers in recent years, Hazel Brown comes to mind.

No it is not autumn yet...and after that cold-ass-winter you should be flogged, tarred & feathered for asking...hell, maybe even stoned!:stuck_out_tongue::grinning:

Did they filter it through a stack of pennies before bottling like they did last year? I could do without that again.
