They should have said that when they first announced it. They should have held off on some Enjoy By and devoted more space to this. Still haven't touched my bottle from the first batch. If I'm trading I'd want one of each of the bottle designs, but that would be such a hassle. Well, too bad.

Shared a bottle with a friend tonight for his birthday. Amazing beer. Doesn't taste like 13.5% at all. Very similar to w00tstout 1.0 but with a bit of chocolate. The pecans go so well with the bourbon.

Ugh I didn't read about limited release. Had 3x in my hands at register and when they rang up at $14 I balked and took one (last release was like $8?) since 1.0 didn't move my needle much.

I hope there's still some left later for tradebait!

    :flushed:

from the "hardest beer to brew" talk, i suspect they had to dump a lot of it. probably several infected barrels or something like that. stone hardcore QC, they're not releasing bad product.

Found it at BevMo in Santa Barbara. $13 or $14/bottle, I believe.

1.0 was good - I had it on tap. Unless I find it on tap again, I'm probably missing out.

Well, that is great, but they could also stand to be a bit more transparent. I mean if that is the case, they should be forthcoming with that. It isn't on the level of DFH dumping an entire batch of 120 minute, but at least they told us about it (however, that was with a beer that comes out every year).

i mean, it's possible they knew from the start that what was last year an available for months nationally easy to get beer would be a limited to 2 states beer... maybe they'll chime in with more details.

i don't know any details myself, but i do know horror stories like how goose island was sidelined for days due to cleaning out vanilla sludge after making BCBVS, and i also know that the more adjuncts that you put in a beer (especially stuff like nuts) the greater the chance of infection.

but yeah, more transparency would be better.

In relation to your first point, despite it being a national release, it was extremely hard to come by in MD (one of the few here that had a bottle limit, if I remember correctly) and was gone as fast as it came in (as it is with FW Boxed Releases, at least here in MD); however, everything else from Stone is readily available for months. I guess for MD, it was an exciting release since there aren't too many releases we get threads for, even more so since it was coming from Stone. I never saw any of the variant labels (not really a valid point, since there was only like 1 of each of the other 2 in a single case, but just noting it). This was also when I was really up-to-date with looking and hunting for stuff too.

I'd forgotten about the BCBVS thing, but I've heard about that from those long BCBS Variant Rumor threads.

I hope they do chime in (never seen anyone from Stone on here directly, unlike Sam Calgione, Sixpoint, Sierra Nevada and some others). I don't even know who I would, @ to help get a response. Anyways, I will talk to my Stone rep.

Can confirm. Good stuff indeed. Sort of liked 1.0 more, but this is definitely good. I hope they make it every year, frankly.
