Is Kane draught only (plus ANTEAD)? From what I hear about them I'd think they'd be a good trade chip (even if they do growlers but not bottles).

Kane has the same basic model as TH or F&M. Intermittent, limited bottle releases.

Unfortunately, they are in a shore town and 90 mins to 2 hours away. (I was in line 3 hours and had 3 hours of drive time for ANTEAD, and only got a pretty limited amount of the base beer)

Damn, that's a shame. 3 hours though? common... maybe on a friday evening in the summer... (unless you mean round trip, in which case that's pretty dead on... nevermind.)

I've got a business meeting in Wall coming up and I plan to visit them while there, anything in particular I should look for, or is it like TH where a) no telling what'll be on tap and b) it's all good regardless so try everything?

Yeah for me it's 2 1/2 hours to Carton and 3 hours to Kane WITHOUT traffic -- however, I have relatives within an hour, so maybe if I'm down there in the off season I'll try and visit.

You're also in NY coming from the opposite direction... I know (roughly) where @devilfluff is at, and it's no more than 10 minutes further than I am; google maps tells me it's an hour and a quarter for me to get to Kane

Yeah, I was more just moaning about how far it is even without traffic. And 5 miles on 95 is like 100 miles on a normal road.

I work an hour closer, so would think I can at least find Carton in cans somewhere nearby but no luck yet. I HAVE had some of their stuff on tap and liked everything. I only tried Kane once and honestly don't remember much about it.

It's 90 minutes each way in the offseason. (I'm 10 miles from DE) This time of year is at least 2 hours(additional time from shore traffic and driving past Great Adventure).

They do have growlers, but they are only open Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

Definitely this. For me it is Jester King. It is still a 6 hour round trip drive to the brewery for me, but worth it since it is a very solid trader. It has even gotten better recently since they changed their liquor license to a brewpub. That change allowed them to sell to-go bottles at their brewery. They have now almost stopped sending beer into distribution beer since they can almost always sell out their production on site and not have to split the profit with a distributor.

Please, put me on your list of interested parties for round 3. I have been following this thread for a little bit and you guys are having fun.

As for the trading thing (ISO FT thread)I rarely do it anymore. First, I do not have any of the Mexican Cake aged in Huna on Dark Lord chips walez and, most of the time, people try to trade **** you. I have been enjoying locals from different places lately and I am perfectly fine with that.

Trading with other BIFers is what I try to keep to these days as well.

This. At this point I'm pretty sure there's not a major brewery in the country that I couldn't get a regular release from, just from the few trading partners I have from my first month or two (before I got into BIFs) and the BIFs I've been in.

Even most limited releases, if I care enough about them to be the first to ask, I could probably get hooked up with a #pickitupformebro, it's only the really rare stuff like Huna or DL that I'd have to go to the forums for, and frankly I just don't need to chase any specific thing that badly, there's enough out there besides those, and bottle shares to tick them, that it's just too much of a hassle.

The one thing I disagree with is that "most of the time, people try to trade **** you." This certainly goes on and you have to watch out for it, but the experience that I have had has been a very good one, especially when I was willing to do a little homework ahead of time into what I should expect to get for what I've got, and since my expectations were low, I've never been disappointed.

If you happen to have a Pappy Van Winkle Big Black Voodoo Daddy, then sure, people will throw a thousand offers at you, most of them lowball. But if you're just trying to swap locals for locals, or brewery only (ie Al's) for brewery only or less, you'll do fine.

Let me clarify. Whenever I do trade, it usually goes smoothly. It is just that it is irritating when people try to obviously lowball you on trade offers. I guess I need to do my homework better. Lol.

I like the interest I've been seeing from some other BAers out there. Makes me wonder how many thread lurkers we've got, and also really happy to have joined this BIF from the first go round.

BTW, imho most of the rare trades on here are just dudes swinging their dicks trying to see who's is the biggest. The whalz hunt is enticing to newbies and people looking to tick that monster. But I much prefer landing big fish and local delicacies that taste awesome but just haven't found their market yet.

Not gonna lie, I landed a BA DL (2014 Brandy) and traded it 7:1 but I ended up throwing in 3 extra because the dude seemed cool and didn't want to take advantage. In the end both sides were happy but there are just so many excellent beers out there that aren't over hyped and within reason, just got to find good trading partners or a kick ass BIF like this.

I had a guy recently offer me FW Pale 31 for Sucaba(s). I really like Pale 31 (more than most people), but not that much. I felt like electronically kicking the guy upside the head. However one does such a thing.

I've got that second bottle of BA Big G... I thought about trying to trade it, but who knows what it is really worth?

I'm thinking it would be a good addition to a bottle share...
