Abacus and BA HiFi Rye get my vote for the two Barrel Aged Barley Wines that should never be aged.
    I adore them fresh.

I thought both Abacus and Sucaba were excellent fresh, but a tad hot. Hence the aging. But now hoping I didn't make the wrong decision with Abacus.

My love of Whiskey usually translates to liking hot beers fresh more than most people... I could be a bad person to ask, haha.

Update: I called a couple Binny's locations and all said the same thing. Parabola is at the distro and they're expecting in any time. They originally thought it would come in on their shipment today (Thursday) but now they're thinking probably next week Tuesday.

The beer is at the main distributor, so the city will start to see it as early as tomorrow. Suburbs, next week.

And from what i understand, it was shipped over on a boat called The Seaward.

Boat? Is this one of those newfangled land boats I've been hearing about. You kids and your techmagalology. I used to have to walk dickity-4 miles to get beer. Weren't no boats that came out my way since I lived on hill, you see.

Last time I called Binny's Express in Hyde Park about the release, they told me they had gotten it in a month ago and now it was all gone (???). Hopefully they're better informed now...

I love how everyone has been told different information. Right now Parabola has either been in stores for over a month, will be in tomorrow, or sometime next week..... Next someone will be told they won't get it until next year....

I get idiots (generally at Binnys) saying stuff like this all the time. Bunch of idiots and liars. I think the liars do it just because they are too damn lazy to check with someone thats working that knows what the hell they are talking about.

That's a bit harsh. I think they're just confused and mostly not interested in learning about the beer releases they get...

Sounds like a typical FW release in the Chicago area!

I don't hold Binnys to any higher of a standard than I do other liquor stores.

Most know where their beer section is.

You need to learn who the beer buyer/manager is at your local Binnys(Binnyseseses plural) and try to bug him/her, if he or she is cool. Not as in "call every day" but as in go in and talk, or use twitter/email etc. Figure these poor bastards are getting a dozen Parabola calls a day easy. But most of the other employees aren't going to know anything about it. People tend to be pretty specialized... some are only cashiers, some are pretty knowledgeable about wine or spirits, etc.

I'm not going to blame someone for seeing a bunch of brown FW boxes leave the building, and thinking "sold out" when that run is gone and they're told they've none left. The employee was clearly thinking Sucaba.

Out of town in Cali. Saw some there. Might bring that back with me along other goodies. But seeing that it should be showing up in Chicago I might save te space.

I had a guy tell me the same thing the other day. Think he was confusing Parabola with Sucaba.
