I will be in Indianapolis on Monday and Tuesday, what breweries should not be missed? I definitely plan on heading down to Bloomington to check out Upland, any clue of what will be available to purchase to go in 750's? Thanks for the help... Cheers!
Upland will likely have Blackberry and Raspberry bottles that weren't picked up or claimed for $20/each plus tax. You may also happen in to Gilgamesh at a random store. I always recommend checking out Hoosier Beer Geek (.com) for planning purposes. Personally, my favorite spots in the Broad Ripple area are Broad Ripple Brew Pub ($3 imperial pints Monday nights, I'm there pretty religiously, haha...also great food with plenty of veg-friendly options), Brugge (their wonderful sour Pooka is likely still on, also great Belgian-inspired menu), and 20 Tap (now 30-some taps of mostly Indiana and regional beers). Upland's Tasting Room should have said bottles if you don't feel like the hour trip to Bloomington. Downtown, I'd check out Sun King and especially Flat12's brewing operations, then also MacNiven's, Chatham Tap, Rathskeller on Mass Ave have good food and beer, Tomlinson Tap serves only Indiana-brewed beers, and Fountain Square has New Day Meadery, FS Brewing, and several cool restaurants and bars. Black Acre is a new place on the East side that just started serving their own beers and have plenty of guest taps, Triton is further out and brews as well. Some of these breweries you could try via 20 Tap or Tomlinson Tap, too. Just depends on how much time you can spare, how much you want to spend, where you're staying/transport, that kind of thing. Hope you enjoy your stay, I love this city and the "beer scene" is really growing and prospering right now. Oh, and if you're driving and planning to bring some Surly with ya...
you bring back some blueberry and I will purchase or take em off your hands. Have fun while your there.
Blueberry is gone, long gone. This past release was Raspberry, Blackberry, and the Persimmon is delayed. There were/are leftovers of the first two still as of this week. Don't think any have gone into distro yet. I should have mentioned that Kahn's on Keystone and on Willowbrook (north side), the downtown Crown and the Payless on S. East and the Payless at I-69 and 96th are your best bet for liquor stores.
Indeed, it's a great beer! This batch is quite good, had a couple at Upland's Sour Fest and it was lovely, better than I remembered the last batch being.
Will do, do you have time for an IP trade? I have plenty of local goodies to hook you up with. And thanks a lot for your detailed response, I will have Monday night, as well as all day Tuesday to check out whatever I wish. Thanks again and let me know what you are looking for - Surly, New Glarus, etc...
