London Beer Recommendations for Visitors

That's such idiotic logic. It's like me going to Spain and not going on a beach because they also have nice beaches in the UK. It just makes no sense. Just enjoy the best of everything you want, everywhere you go.

"Hey look, bottles of The Kernel/Partizan/Siren/Summer Wine/Tiny Rebel/Weird Beard/etc, I've heard they're really nice, let's get some."
"Nope it's vaguely similar to some beers we have at home so we shouldn't drink it."
"But it's still really nice beer."
"So are the ones at home, put it back and get some nice, but frankly mediocre in comparison, London Pride."

You have to be pretty ignorant about beer to assume that an imperial stout is not worth drinking because you can get a good one from another brewery. Or that an IPA has the same hops as another so it must be the same and thus not worth bothering with.

 

I miss the Young's brews. Oatmeal Stout, Ramrod, London Special, and Old Nick were eye opening for me.

Family day in London so I had to look for good pint that "just happened to be near" our planned destinations. This served my need perfectly as always.

I live in London and would be interested in showing people around the Bermondsey breweries on a Saturday. Basically a walking tour. I even know the guys from half of the breweries. All I ask is that you bring a beer or two from where you are from.

Definitely The Kernel. Went there on July 12th and had a blast. Really nice staff and really nice patrons there. I came in straight from LHR still with my rolling suitcase and carry-on.

 

I'm planning to go to The Kernel on August 2!

 

Great work, but as of a few weeks ago Kernel only open until 2, which is accurately reflected in the updated guide.
