    While there's no doubt that Deviant is a great DIPA, and one of my favorites, it taste very different than Heady. Deviant has the strong sharp Summit hop notes, while Heady has the massive Citra and Simcoe.

    Heady = good
    Resin = drainpour

    I happen to think that there's PLENTY of doubt that Deviant is a great DIPA.

    I drank enough resin to kill a small farm animal last night. While HT is unbelievable I think Resin is an easy to find choice to fill the void.

    I'm a sixpoint fanboy and Heady kills it. But Resin on it's own is very good.

    I really don't think Resin holds a candle to Heady. I can think of at least 20 other off the shelf IPAs that I prefer over Resin, which I think is just overly dry, bitter and oddly sweet.

    Too much malt sweentess upfront. Finishes extremely dry...does that not make sense??

    Sure, I don't know if I'd necessarily describe something that way, but that wasn't what you said at first.

    Head Topper has a better aroma, taste and mouthfeel than Resin IMO. Nothing about that statement can now be misunderstood.

    Drainpoured Resin - Love Heady every time, even on two month old cans it is better than most.

    I enjoy Resin.

    but there is NO comparison to Heady.

    They are completely different in terms of styles of DIPAs. I can see some (very few, but some) people that may like Resin more, but they are not similar and the comparison is way off base. Don't think that Resin is a substitute.

    I enjoy Heady Topper at least twice as much (probably more) than Resin. Though I do enjoy Resin.

    i'll chime back in that i very much like sixpoint, including their canned offerings (there seems to be some rumbling of "they were good on tap, but the cans are a shadow," or something). trying the crisp for the first time on sunday, hopefully it will be as good as apollo.

    however, i'd be surprised if even the brewers at sixpoint (or their adoring parents, if their parents are both adoring and beerlovers) would say resin stands up to heady topper. they're just not remotely in the same league.

    obviously, you could happen to like resin and not HT (taste is subjective), but in so many ways HT is the better made beer.

    all that said, to be honest, i still think pliny the elder is a better beer than heady topper. i'm new england through and through, but pliny is like the ideal form of a DIPA. HT is perfect at what it wants to be, but for me pliny defines (and masters) the style.

    I just found Resin as a disappointment(not a drainpour) Heady is a revelation, I wish I could get it off the shelf.

    Let me be more articulate instead of broadly dismissive. Something about Resin turned my stomach the one time I tried it. It could have been the cloying sweetness that I got from it. That is my thought, as it has been a while since I had it.
    To be more positive in this discussion: there are so many types of DIPAs that everyone will hopefully find ones that just blow their minds. That is just awesome! For me, Heady Topper, PtE, and a few others are the ones.

    I am no fan of Resin, and I am reluctant to drainpour so I managed to get through it. HT, PtE and Kern Citra are my favs I also tend to drink a lot of Port Mongo on draft as it is a regular at a local bar.

    Heady Topper hands down. I thought Resin was a good beer, but a horrible double IPA...it tastes like an amber.

    Um, Resin gets a mark of 87 here, and Heady Topper a 100. So, "objectively," there is no comparison.
    Personally I find the Resin to be off-balanced and astringent. The malt backbone is ok, but the hop profile borders on ammonia or some kind of cleaning solvent.
