El Segundo Hop Tanker

    i don't work for El Segundo or even live in El Segundo but can't say enough good things about this beer. if you are in the area or see some at the store you should pick some up. i'm sure most of you BA's are already aware of it, but what the hell.. i'm throwing out some El Segundo love. i think this beer is as good as any double IPA that's been released in LA (including Beachwood beers) and can go head to head with any SD beer. this recent batch is incredible.

    I'm in playa del rey so I will have to make it over there. Have had some of the other IPAs and remember someone hyping up one as Pliny level but wasn't sure which one it is. Must be that one lol.

    it's incredible. most of their other beers are decent (haven't had them all) but this one is a stand out. the Blue House and White Dog are very good too

    i'm staying in El Segundo this weekend with my girlfriends sister, while our house is being tented. this beer has made the experience a positive one.

    going to grab a shitload of bottles before i head back to the East Side

    Hop Tanker, White Dog and Mayberry are all very good. I think Mayberry is my favorite out of those three but I love Hop Tanker as well.

    Agreed. And their beers are easy to find (for now anyway...). Additionally, they date their bottles, which we can all appreciate.

    Be sure to check those dates, too. A couple of weeks ago, I saw bottles of either Hop Tanker or Two Five Left (forgot which) sitting in a West LA bottle shop cooler that were packaged in December 2013...

    It really is a great brewery. And if the owners read this and want to buy me a Hop Tanker I have to say that's a very nice gesture, but not necessary.

    White Dog is probably my favorite so far. Hop Tanker is also very good.

    Bourbon and Bliss is worth a try too if you get a chance. It’s a barrel-aged version of Standard Crude.

    I love El Segundo. My personal fave is the Blue House Citra Pale Ale.

    Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Hop Tanker -- have been seeing bottles around the Venice and MDR area a lot lately, too.

    Blue house Citra's also found itself onto quite a few tap lists near me, and has become a stand-by order if I'm looking for a refreshing pale ale.

    Hop Tanker is the SHIT. Nelson and Citra featured in the same beer? YES. PLEASE.

    Love Nelson and Citra hops. But I can't drink Hop Tanker. Love this DIPA but for some reason I am allergic to this beer.

    Does it cause a drunk reaction?
    But seriously, is this the only or one of a very select few beers that causes you to have a reaction? Might be worth e-mailing them to find out if there is a standalone ingredient that they include in this one and not their others.

    Seriously I cannot drink hop tanker. Tried it twice and both times I had some kind of reaction to it. Had the one bottle and the misses told me that I was acting really strange and just kept fukn' with her. Did not drink anything else after the one bottle. As much as I like the taste of Hop Tanker I will not drink it. And I love Nelson and Citra.

    Had big expectations after having some of their other beers plus the Nelson + Citra hop bill. Was a disappointment for me, way too malty especially for those hops, I have the same opinion about Fresh Squeezed.

    El Segundo Brewing rules! ... I try to go every couple weeks and fill growlers. Should go more considering its only 10 min from me.

    This beer is one of the reasons I do not drink many DIPAs anymore. Cloyingly sweet, incredibly boozy and overtly malty. There is a benzine taste. I do like a couple of their IPAs and am a fan of the brewery. I just find your overzealousness for this beer interesting to say the least, but hey, to each his own and go enjoy the heck out of it.
