I'd love to be assured I can actually still get it then I remember what two years ago when the pumking first got some popularity it was sold out everywhere before october.
that being said I had to force myself to only buy one pumking bottle today when in the past I have bought a case every year.

Sidenote: Plenty of Warlock imperial pumpkin stout was also on shelves this morning in New York,
although I didnt check the date I guess they could've been from last season.

I'll leave extra pumpkin beers on the shelf for those of you who like them. I got pumpkined out years back... Even before these July releases.

Very good. I picked up a bottle of Pumking last week at a local store thinking it was the 2014. Dated July 2013. Drank it last night and it was fantastic. Don't listen to the idiots that think pumpkin beers don't age or turn sour. Pure nonsense. I have 4 Warlocks in my cellar from last year. Drank one a month ago and it was ridiculous.

Have not even seen any pumpkin beers out around NE Ohio yet.....still mostly all the typical summer brews; I am looking forward to seeing all the autumnal beers - pumpkins - marzens - octo-fests - browns, and fresh harvest ales.....soon! Don't forget, Labor Day is only a little over 5 weeks away now!

Drink what you like and don't worry so much!

Are you sure this wasn't an old bottle from last year? Pumpking drinks well with age on it, so it wouldn't matter, but I think that was a 2013 bottle. I live right by Southern Tier Brewery and I've asked them about Pumpking and Warlock and was told it's still not out yet. Keg or bottle.

I stand corrected, just saw the post with the new bottle format. The people at the brewpub are real idiots honestly. IDK why I listened to them. However, there were absolutely no Pumpking bottles at the brewery to buy so that's pretty shitty.

Gotta disagree, had a 2yr old one last winter it was terrible, one of the few beers Ive ever drain poured. Undrinkable

Never had one that old. Most I've done was one year on them and it still tasted great. Granted, I love that beer so it's hard for me to have the willpower to let them sit and age for long periods.

The Christmas Ale thing I fully get, but in my eyes the Octoberfests should be released before the pumpkin beers. The beginning of October comes before Halloween and Thanksgiving......right?

Why would that be "worse" - at least as far as "seasonal creep" goes for the Oktoberfest?

Oktoberfest is scheduled for Sept. 20 - Oct. 5 in 2014. 6 weeks before Halloween and more than two months ahead of Thanksgiving ("pumpkin" beer holidays).

If, OTOH, your concern is based on preferring to drink a traditional beer style with no interest a pumpkin-pie flavored malt beverage, I gotta agree.

Lot's of places around Ohio have "Christmas in July" beers out this month....don't worry, this is NOT seasonal creep! Great Lakes BC will have FRESH Christmas Ale only at the Burning River Festival in Cleveland this upcoming weekend.....this Thirsty Dog beer is from 2013.....have seen other Christmas ales out this month.....typical for Ohio and this "Christmas in July" stuff they do...no worries!

I've yet to see any pumpkin beer in MD. Pumking is my main go to but a few are coming up pretty close. Weyerbacher's The Greater Pumpkin, Elysian's The Great Pumpkin, and Elysian's Night Owl. I used to love Schlafly's too but got a bad sixer last year that made me sick.

Typical "Octoberfests" around here are usually in September (despite the name!), at least in NE Ohio, so GLBC releasing it now does not surprise me. Enjoy, they make a good one!

this stuff ages great since its a belgian xmas ale... Most xmas ale or spiced pumpkin beers age like shit IMO because they loose the spice and I like them ramped up! This one was still exceptional though

Ah yes. One of the great pleasures of BA and life in general. Listening to people whine about pumpkin beers hitting the market. Beautiful, beautiful thing. Never gets old.

Seriously. Who the fuck cares? If you don't like them this early, don't buy them. It doesn't take a PH.D. in economics to understand that if the market didn't support these releases then they wouldn't be happening. Consumers and purchasing drives demand and releases.
