I'm going to philly from central NY this weekend and would love to stop at tired hands because it doesnt look like its too far out of the way as far as google maps are concerned . but...
do I have to buy their growlers there to filll?
will the lines be so long that I cant enjoy my day in philly?
will my semi craft beer friends hate it?
big question i guess really is do I have to buy their growlers because If i dont have to I am going to definitely go as long as theyre open at a reasonably early hour ... noontime.. and bring all my own growlers to get everything they have to offer...
didnt really want to waste and entire thread on this but was having a tough time getting answers otherwise thanks guys.

You have to purchase their growlers for fills. No exceptions.

If you're going around noon, which is when they open, growler lines are generally short. You can grab a seat at the bar and the bartender will fill them for you while you eat and drink without standing in line. I usually go at opening time or around 4-4:30pm on weekend, just before dinner time. It's usually not crowded at these times.

Your friends will enjoy the place. It's pretty laid back and friendly atmosphere all around.

There is no requirement to buy growlers, it's optional.

However, if you want to get beer to go, they will only fill their growlers, the glass cost $5 and they have small and large

will the lines be so long that I cant enjoy my day in philly?

There will be no lines, they open at noon on weekends, 4pm midweek

will my semi craft beer friends hate it?

No one ever hates tired hands

Even if you didn't go the brewery's website first, there was a big thread on that issue when their growler policy changed a few months ago, that comes up if you search "tired hands growler" using the forum search function.

It's frustrating seeing the same questions arise in the regional threads every couple weeks when the answers can be quickly found using the forum search function.

dude how many times you see people try to trade westbrook gose for heady topper, its all hilarious , were all here for a laugh and nobody cares. Its the internet. Its all bogus. Its a bunch of fools trying to pass the time. If you getting frustrated you probably just ain't drinking enough tonight.

Follow them on Facebook. That's the only way to know since they usually don't announce releases until the week before. From their "I am the Emptiness" tapping: "I am the Emptiness is ON TAP today! The fifth iteration in our Emptiness series. This one will be served entirely on draft, as we have four full runs of bottled beer conditioning in our cellar currently (see also: We are out of space in our cellar)." So they do have a lot of beers to do releases for, timing though is unknown.

I would buy a ticket just to go and look around at that cellar.

Depends on the price of the ticket, for $5, yeah I'd just enjoy looking around. For $50, I'd expect a "complimentary souvenir".. or three.

I'm definitely gonna need to find the time (and cash which is the main factor right now ) to get to Tired Hands too! I love supporting PA breweries as much as I can! And this place has been on my list for far too long now.

Can you walk there from the ardmore train station? I live in lancaster and its an easy 20 minute $10 ride. Avoid the drinking and driving

You didn't thank anyone after the fact that we offered information which your laziness prevented you from finding on your own. If your responses are consistent with this attitude, you will be helped less in the future. Food for thought.
