Following this talk about the thread - some things I agree with, some I don't. This is a thread I look forward to every day and I like to participate (for better or worse). For me it is simply a fun place to hang out. It's a more social thread where we can share more than other threads. I agree (@Providence, @BrahptimusPrime ) that I would not allow it to detract from an experience. Most of my drinking is at home, and even then I am in the "just finished it" camp 90% of the time. But it's common sense, isn't it? I did the Allagash tasting and posted up after the fact because it was an experience I wanted to share. It wasn't the time or place to be going "hey, here I am" in real time. It was an experience to enjoy with my wife, daughter, great beer, and tremendous food. Then all ya'll when I got 'round to it.

My cell phone is dumber than a bag of hammers (no offense to actual hammers) and my iPad is way smarter than me, so I don't post pictures. I don't take it quite as literally as what beer are you drinking at this exact nanaosecond. I forget to post sometimes, or I will <gasp> go days without a beer, but I don't play catch up for the month, either. Seems pretty basic etiquette to me. I do try and stay within the time frame implied, but could see combining a couple. I agree with @Roguer in that regard.

I really don't understand the compulsion for instant gratification and constant connectivity that has evolved with social media (@Briesch). We had people at a recent corporate function posting "selfies" (I think they are called?) during the meetings, dinner, talks, etc. WTF??? I post in this thread because I choose to and for enjoyment - not because I feel compelled to have everybody know what I'm doing (Jesse - understand I'm not being defensive, just stating the truth). I'm probably never going to meet the vast majority of posters in this thread (even the ones twenty miles away LOL). For example, I don't have to meet @IndyDad to know what he's going through with Indy and offer a little support, you know? Or see how many dog lovers there are, foodies, new music, etc. I learned a lot about the Big Green Egg because I noticed a picture in the thread and PM's the person - great exchange there (except learning it will take a year of beer money to buy one...)

Here's to What Beer Are You Drinking Now(ish)...

Not bad, but I had to take the plunge and at least try it. Too much rass and not enough pretzel imo, but you win some and you lose Some. On the plus side I'm feeling pretty musical today. I'll probably chill with some records and pick up the old git fiddle. Cheers!

If you're in the Hudson Valley come to Grand Cru in Rhinebeck. We are the first place in the USA to have this beer on draft!
