All credibility is lost when Town Hall is left off the list.

It's not a bad list, come on. 612 and Dangerous Man are the only two I disagree with. No brewpubs are on the list which leads me to believe they chose to forgo them in favor of breweries. I would like to note that I enjoy both 612 and Dangerous Man, both are fine, but IMO Hammerheart, and how could I forget, Liftbridge are far more deserving. However, on the taproom side, both 612 and D Man whoop Liftbridge. Not that I dislike Liftbridge's taproom, it's fine, but not in the same league as both of the aforementioned taprooms.

Are you talking ambiance in the taproom setting or beers? I do like the scene at 612 but their beers are average at best and I find it hilarious they are not filling growlers other than their own....Like I said I do like the scene there but.....

No Town Hall and the State's most lauded brewery at #5?

    Successful troll list is successful.

Yeah, ambiance. I've had some underwhelming beers from 612, nothing horrible though. I've also had some really good beers from 612. As far as them and many other Mn breweries not filling growlers other than their own, I say wait awhile, if in a year they still aren't filling any old growler, then yeah, that would be hilarious.

Summarizing the criticism of this list so far:

    1. The judges include some people who are (horrors!) not hop heads.
    2. How could they possibly insult Surly with "only" a #5 ranking?
    3. Summit? Summit? But, but, they're not NEW!
    4. No taprooms? How can that BE!
    5. My favorite is not #1 (or not even on the list), so the list is bogus.

(All in good fun, guys... ) :grinning:

If someone were new to Minnesota craft beer I think it's a reasonable 10 breweries to start with. And, really, that's their target audience -- not us. We don't need Top 10 lists.

People take these stupid lists waaaaaayyy too seriously. It's not a beer geeks list, it's not in a publication specifically geared toward beer geeks. Who gives a shit?

There are 4 breweries in Minnesota that are better than Surly?

If this is true, that is quite impressive

I don't know why we're so under the radar, Minneapolis (where I don't live anywhere near, by the way) is a craft beer HUB.

Honestly, no offense or anything, but I think it has more to do with where you are than what's going on there (and I'm a big believer in the Minneapolis beer scene). Most people would just rather go to San Diego, Portland, Colorado, Asheville, Chicago etc. than to Minnesota.

Just enjoy it; there are benefits to being under the radar.
