From FFF Facebook: We have a special release at the pub today. Chevalier Bertrand du Guesclin, an American sour in wine barrels with blueberries, will be available when the pub opens. $25 per bottle with a limit of 2 per person. Floyd D'Rue is still available as well and has a limit of 4 bottles per person.

It's very sour. Great purple color. Not very blueberry forward. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Was there an hour ago and wasn't sold out. The bottle said it was brewed in a 3000 gallon foeder so I would assume they have lots of it.

Does FFF have a foeder? I remember seeing pictures from a photo shoot brewbokeh(?) did at FFF and one of his pictures had barrels labeled blueberry sour(?) or labeled something similar.

    1. If 7200 bottles are sold out by close, I'll be very impressed.

    2. I'm not sure on the barrels as a 3000 gal foeder is specifically mentioned. Was it brewed in a foedre and transferred to many barrels?

Did you take this pic on a brewery tour? I'm curious about the wood used in those barrels. Most oak barrels I've seen used for beer, spirits, or wine are solid color. I even did a consulting project for a wine barrel manufacturer while in grad school. I haven't seen what you have pictured before and wonder if they made any mention of it. Appreciate any details you can share.

This was taken on a brewery tour I took this February. Was told the blueberry brew was in one of the oak containers. Guessing it was before the blueberries were added, during primary fermentation, and aged a while before the blueberries were added in small barrels so they could reuse these giants without the blueberry soaking in.

Oh, ISO one of these brews if someone has an extra. Had to throw it out there  I'm a big fan of blueberry!

Those koval barrels were a completely different beer. Blueberry was/is in the Foudre.

I'm sorry if I was not clear. That is what I meant. On the tour the guide said the blueberry was in one of the "foudres". I said oak giant for lack of not remembering what they were called.

*My guess, was once primary fermentation was completed and after the brew was allowed to age a while in the oak foudres it was moved into different barrels with the blueberries added to mature. Like I said just my guess, just feel that they would not have the blueberries in those foudres for long in case they wanted to do a non-fruit brew next. Does not really matter just my .02, just wanted to post a picture of those Oak Giants.

    ~Cheers

*Edit - just saw your post above. Thanks for the clarification, guess the blueberries were in there as well. Yum :stuck_out_tongue:
