Oh I gotcha. He can't turn on the stove, answer a phone, or go bowling on saturdays either.

There's three reasons why Saturday could be problematic for you and others like you, as others have posted:

    1. You work in an industry that means Saturday is off limits (such as hospitality, or shift work, or...)

    2. You're a strict observant Jew, and Saturday is your Sabbath day.

    3. There are personal/family reasons why Saturday is out of the picture.

All of these are 100% understandable and legitimate reasons why Saturday doesn't work for you. However, the vast majority of paying customers find Saturday the optimal day of the week to spend their money on leisure activities such as beer releases, festivals, or throwing around utility poles for the lulz.

As sympathetic to your issue as I am, numbers work against you. No matter how many people fall into one (or more) of these categories, the simple fact is that the overwhelming majority of people don't have the same restrictions, and brewing beer is a business that has to follow the money. Hopefully you will be able to find a business sympathetic to your requirements, and posting details of said business here would help others in the same situation.

    Good luck!

Often at beer events (just basing on the few local events I've been part of) the setup is done the day prior so the breweries & distributors can just show up and be ready to pour. A Sunday event would mean that people who most likely already work Mon-Fri would need to spend Saturday setting up and work the event on Sunday. Very hard to get people to kill their weekend for an event.

you can attend any event on any day you want if you trade for beer.

Perhaps a change of religious affiliation ??? Being brought up Catholic, got to say I love the "beer stance" associated with the rules of the Roman Catholic Church, and the fact that some of our most devout followers brew some of the very best beers in the world. And before I get flamed, the suggestion to change religious affiliations was a lame attempt at a joke. I applaud your adherence to your faith OP, it is admirable. There are worst things in life than missing a beerfest ?????

LOL...I agree. Hunaphu Day ( a Saturday, surprise surprise) in FL has become one of my favorite days of the year, even better than Christmas! Alas, rumor has it that it will be taken away....sigh.

Do people still really think that a "large majority of people work Monday through Friday"? Two of the most common jobs in America are retail and the food service industry, neither of which are M-F type schedules.

The actual truth is people who have the lions share of disposable income work M-F. Doesn't sound as nice though.

And the most common days off are probably Saturday and Sunday.

While the majority of people may not work Monday through Friday, it's still the most common single work schedule since those who work in retail and food service don't all tend to have the same days off.

For the same reason people have parties on Saturday, big name performers have concerts on Saturdays, you ask a girl you like if she'll go out with you Saturday night. You didn't work all day, you don't have to work tomorrow!

Sunday has religious stigma attached to it.. some states don't serve alcohol on Sundays. It's that simple.

Didn't read any of this thread so I'm sure the answer I'm about to reinforce has already emerged.

Saturday is not a day when most people have to work and unlike Sunday it is not a day when there are lots of religious services and/or any state laws that prohibit or limit sales and/or distribution of alcohol. Believe it or not there are still states where alcohol is not for sale on Sunday (at least the last time I bothered to look).

Me too...I actually prefer Sunday afternoon beer events. My Saturdays always seems to get booked with housework or events with friends and family. By Sunday my wife and I just want to relax on our own terms. If I go to a Sunday afternoon beer event, there's plenty of time in the evening to sober up before bed and I'm good to go for work Monday morning.

EDIT: @OP if you live in NYC and want to get to any of Philly's beer events, Amtrak's Acela Express trains can get you there in ~1 hour... http://www.amtrak.com/acela-express-train

Are there any states left with blanket prohibitions on Sunday alcohol sales? Even in the Deep South, most technically dry counties have very wet municipalities, and outside those (mainly rural) counties the rest of the states near me tend to be wet at least after 12pm.

    Pure unadulterated Anti-Semitism.

Or it could be that 95% of the free world is off of work on Saturdays and can spend the day drinking because they don't have to work on Sunday either.
