I try to keep it to one or two. The guy wasn't too far off in that more than a couple is too much for me. I just have a friend who did. And didn't realize it was 8% alcohol, so he got to feeling pretty good.

I usually get two six packs to bring back to TX and spread them out, making sure I have a couple at Thanksgiving.

Octoberfest was in a 12 pack canned format last year, and I am sure it will be back again this year.

2011's was a great pack for sure and I have fond memories of drinking some of those beers after my good friends' wedding [not a grammatical error ha ha, they were both my friends separately, met one day and got married years later]. Hard to believe it has been three years already!

Nope. Those four Harvest Saisons were a deal-breaker for me. Sam Adams has an abysmal track record with anything having to do with wheat. I wanted an inexpensive variety pack to throw in the fridge this weekend so I passed up the Sam Adams pack and grabbed one of the new Folly Packs instead. Even though it's very middle-of-the-road, at least I know that the throwback saison in the Folly Pack is drinkable.

That sounds good except for the Harvest Pumpkin, but I don't mind getting a 10 pack and giving the pumpkins away.

Drinking a Boston Ale that I got from wineanthology.com right now. Haven't had this brew in at least 3 years. It's very ggod they should throw this one in the fall pack. Boston lager is obviously their flagship brew but the Boston Ale is really good.

If the forecast for the fall pack that has been previously stated in this topic discussion is true then I'm disappointed in Sam. They can't come up with one or two new brews for fall? Summer '14 was a complete repeat of previous brews. I didn't buy it. I will buy fall '14 because I really like those beers but c'mon Sam. How about bringing Cream Stout and Cranberry Lambic back for winter?

they have cream stout 6 packs all year round tho
maybe that beer case is not final lol i have not seen it anywhere else but here
why would sam adams suddenly change from their traditional amount of variety beers in their pack?

I like Boston Ale too but the move from six beers to four in their variety pack likely signals the end of them including any maninstays other than Boston Lager. I'm guessing from now on it'll be 2 seasonals, Boston Lager, & one pack-exclusive beer.

I'm not a fan of saisons so I guess this batch isn't for me. That's another benefit of the 2-2-2-2-2-2 model, it allows them to take risks because 2 beers of a type you don't like is far less a disincentive to buy than 4 beers of a type you don't like.

Sam Adams' increasing risk-aversion wouldn't be so frustrating if they made it easier to find their more unusual beers. If I could go to the store and pick up a sixer of chocolate bock or hazelnut brown I wouldn't care whether the seasonal packs had them. But you can only get these beers in seasonal packs. If they take out their best seasonal beers I can't get them at all.

I didn't realize that. Haven't seen it anywhere other than wineanthology.com. I just got a big order from them including the remaining stock of Founders breakfast stout. Good site for beer. So is South Lyndale liquors.com. Got some ten fidy from there!

Not in my area and I seem to be able to get 6 packs of anything BUT that which is disappointing because I haven't had this beer in so long and want to give it another go however, not enough to want to purchase an entire case.

they have cream stout in my area
but last time i bought it the beer tasted different than it usually did
and i did not like it
i think it might have been old or something
probly not enough people buy it in my area lol
sam adams has a link called "find a sam" on their website
it shows a beer you can specify and it shows where it is closest to your area
it worked pretty well for me so far

Can they just make me a personal 12-pack that's half Hazel Brown and half Old Fezziwig?

For a while, I preferred Boston Ale over Boston Lager.

Samuel Adams usually puts out a decent seasonal pack, especially the fall and winter ones. I'm a little disappointed that hazel brown won't be in it (I actually really enjoyed that one), but I will probably pick this one up. I really love pumpkin beers, and I have yet to try Sam Adams pumpkin beer, plus you can't go wrong with their Octoberfest.

I'll actually be picking one of these up. I like the 2-2-4-4 format a lot more than 2-2-2-2-2-2. I'm into saisons so the harvest saison has me curious. I know I love Boston Lager and Octoberfest, and my wife will drink the pumpkin ales (I like pumpkin beers, just not SA's).

Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed that Sam has gone to the 4-4-2-2 packaging but I will still grab myself one. I fully agree with the posts above that the 2011 pack was pretty solid. The summer one was as well. I do wish they would bring back the Scotch Ale.

I hope the saison is good. I know I like the other three in this pack.

I'm not thrilled with the new pack only having four beers (with one of those being Boston Lager). I agree with others that have said to bring back Hazel Brown, Dunkelweizen, and Bonfire Rauchbier. Combine those with Octoberfest and Harvest Pumpkin and you've got an outstanding seasonal mixer. I'll have to get this one no matter what unless they decide to put Harvest Pumpkin out in a six-pack.
