August sees the return of two great beer events in Bend, the Brewfest on the 14th-16th and Little Woody on the 29th and 30th. Who's planning to hit one or both?
I am visiting Seattle July 28-Aug4th. Are there any beer festivals, or beer events that one would suggest I attend while I am there?
Damn. Was really hoping to go to Little Woody this year, but will be down in NorCal for the Labor Day weekend. Damn.
Don't know where you live, but in the PNW everyday is a beerfest. Lots of breweries, bars, and stores, you'll be kept busy just trying things you've never seen, or heard of before. Enjoy your visit!
Might hit up the Woody, looks like a solid beer list. What should I expect if I do go? Are there long lines? Big crowd? Are there ever any special tappings or breweries not announced prior to the event? Also, couldn't seem to find any info on the whiskey the one time I googled it. @sharpski & @MattyPrize, yall seem to be the experts on the subject, plz respond
The lines increase as it gets later in the day. I usually show up as early as possible, which allows free reign over all the tents. The big crowds hit around 7-8pm, and it does get pretty busy. All of the beers at the event are one time productions, or close to it. Boneyard usually has BA Suge Knight on Saturday. I remember having to go into the building with the whiskey tasting last year to see the menu. I was surprised to find the whiskey tasting line to be much longer than that of any of the beer lines. Ale Apothecary had the biggest line for the beer vendors.
Matt's right, but long lines are a matter of perspective. I've yet to wait more than 5 minutes for a beer at a Bend festival, which is different from many of the festivals in and around Seattle I attended. The Little Woody definitely gets crowded, but you won't have a hard time consuming your tokens. It ain't the Firestone Walker Invitational, but it's the most BA-suited public beer event Bend has in terms of beer lineups.
Also, on 8/13 (day before Brewfest starts) 10 Barrel is having their 2nd annual Beer Wars with some out of distro WA IPA's (Fremont, E9, Bale Breaker, Naked City).
