You should buy a 6 pack of Moose Drool Brown Ale for them.. just tell them it taste a little better when it's coming out of the nose.

this is one of my favorite craft brown ales.

I was at a Norcal bar that had on tap fresh Nelson, Enjoy By, Double Jack, Lost Abbey, Mikkeler, etc etc. The guy next to me at the bar ordered a Blue Moon in a bottle, and then a couple others came up a minute later and ordered 2 bottles of coors light. I just acted like it didn't bother me, but it did. Still said nothing.

You are a beer snob when you can go to the best craft beer bars (Lord Hobo) and find nothing appealing and walk out the door.

My beer snob comes out only when the BMC drinkers I know refuse to try anything new. I don't act upon it, but its frustrating... there's a lot of great beer out there and sticking to what you know rather than trying something new seems like a waste to me. Its as though the simple sip of a new beer would shatter their comfort zone. I'm glad I took the "beer" pill and tried my first craft beer...otherwise I would have been missing something truly amazing.

Well you all may be beer geeks, but I am a beer snob. Whenever I see someone drinking crap beer I go over to him and start laughing derisively, and point at him, and yell so that everyone in the bar can hear, "Look everybody, this guy is drinking carbonated piss! What a jerk! Hey jerk, why don't you get rid of that swampwater in your glass and drink some beer with flavor and body?! Man, you suck!!"

I don't consider myself a beer snob. Just trying to educate myself on all the wonderful options I have for beer!

Drinking and shooting (good) pool don't mix anyway. If you think you shoot better after a few drinks...you don't. So really, they're doing you a favor by only serving beer you don't like.

The beer snobs I see on this site are the ones who insist that everyone really likes AALs but some beer drinkers just won't admit it because they think they're too good to drink AALs.

As much as I like to joke about terms like "hipster" and "snob" I don't think the latter is accurate unless you're really berating people or proverbially galloping around on your noble white steed with your shiny silver armor preaching to the "uncivilized Barbarians" about civilized culture!

I just drink what I like, turn down what I don't like and offer to those who are willing to try. There's enough unnecessary conflict in this world, let's not contribute to it.

Worth mentioning it isn't only fine beer lovers who are beer snobs. Back when I started drinking fine beers there were lots of folks who looked down on me when I purchased them, and some snobby AAL drinking friends ridiculed me for drinking that "expensive dark foreign crap".

Not saying 'turnabout is fair play', or 'what goes around comes around', but we don't have a monopoly on beer snobs.

^ Definitely a good point, you'll pretty much have "snobs" in all kinds of camps. I've experienced this far too often in regards to music. ("how is that music? they're just screaming/pushing some buttons/play random crap/have senseless lyrics..[..]" etc etc)

My real only idea of a "beer snob" is someone who thinks their taste is the ONLY taste.

Example: "oh my god. This _______ sucks." You can insert pretty much any decent beer you want in the blank. Everyone's taste is different. It's really annoying, especially when it's a beer that has (for example) a 97 BA rating. Clearly, a lot of others like it.

Beer snobs look down upon others who don't share their same passion for craft beer. For example, they may call BMC drinkers ignorant and simple, while ironically failing to realize their own numerous shortcomings in life. There are plenty of beer snobs on here. Choosing not to drink BMC products doesn't make one a beer snob. Not associating with anyone who consumes BMC products, does.

I totally forgot about this. and I totally agree.

A couple weeks ago I was at a local grocery store when I ran into a BMC beer snob. The guy behind me on line at the register was giving me a why-would-you-buy-that look when he noticed my 6 pack of Sumpin Extra. Then, while pointing at his 24 pack of Miller Lite, says "now that's the real sh*t right here." He looked at the cashier for approval, and she agreed that the Miller is cool and refreshing...

edit: Then again, here I am posting smack about him on a beer forum. So I guess I'm still the bigger snob, ha!

I never considered myself a beer snob. I like to educate when it comes to beer. There are so many new breweries (and styles) popping up, I'm constantly telling drinkers (and folks that only tried macro breweries) about them. Why be a lonely asshole who nurses their Black Tuesday when you can make others happy by discovering a great new taste.

Consider the reviews we read here. Some of our fellow aficionados can list out some 16 or 20 flavor profiles from a single sip. And that's just the open. Another 6 plus for the finish. Here might be a distinction:
    - on this forum: I am in awe. I will not ever have that ability to describe what my palette is sensing. And by power of suggestion I think I can taste it, too. It is a fun part of the experience. Preaching to the choir.
-at the bar/party/social gathering: I am leaving.
