    Wow.

For your sake, I honestly hope that being that jaded is just a phase. Being a beer enthusiast is supposed to help you to get more out of those situations, not less. I'm not sure I'd blame Beer Advocate for that one, sorry to say.

this is easy. i dislike that when a beer has hype people buy wayyyy more then they are going to drink just to trade on this site.

Midwest winters cause extreme stout consumption, isolation, and Chinese food intake; which morphs me into a fat bloated slob by the end of the season. That, and the financial splurges on beer that occur too often.

I would say least favorite thing is this.....the article points it out nicely, we're coming to a bottleneck and quite frankly, there are a lot of good brews that I see sitting on the shelf now because there are soooooo many choices. While choice is certainly not a bad thing by any means, the market may soon start dictating who stays and who goes. So, I dislike that we've come to this point so quickly.

My least favorite thing? I sometimes end up reading a thread like "your least favorite thing about being a beer advocate" instead of working on my thesis.

I've just recently been put on a beer budget myself by my wife, and it's pretty low. Whoa is me!

I didn't mean to come across as being jaded, although I can see how it could look that way. Really, that's the opposite of what I was trying to convey; I get excited about beer, really excited. Like Christmas morning excited. Naively excited, at times. So there are those times where the experience just doesn't live up to the immense amount of mental energy I've put into it before hand.

OK, that's cool. Maybe just take it down a notch, and take things as they come next time. Hopefully it works out better next time around. Cheers!

The feeling that, "I just have to leave work early to get make it to the bottle shop, get in line at 5, and wait for the release at 6." Luckily, I'm past that for the most part...but will still do it for the really limited stuff that hits Dallas.

I do still drive way out of my way to check random bottle shops on random days - just on the off chance they have something special tucked away. Kind of annoying, and I feel ridiculous for making the drive when I come up empty.

I definitely agree with the OP.

Practically unobtainable beers from the Alchemist, Hill Farmstead, Three Floyds, Russian River, etc. are bad enough.

Having to scrap, struggle and then pay WAY TOO MUCH for a single bottle of BCBS, KBS, Black Note, etc. may actually be worse.

I feel like you could definitely trade for Three Floyds with local beers from your area. I stumbled across 2 cans of heady topper from an in person trade this week in Milwaukee Wisconsin, who wulda thought? That's just good luck but I keep checking this trade forum and others.

Do I have to be an advocate to drink good beer? Since My drinking of it predates the internet as most know it. When I say Internet I mean graphics based. Some of us know the ARPA net. Still first off I use this web site, but I do not think that defines me as anything. I have no regrets about drinking good beer, its what makes life fun. The only thing I ever disliked is prices. Sucks being on fixed income, but lucky this year I got some odd extra jobs. I plowed all that into home brewing.

Its funny all the "extra" friends you make when you have free beer at the house. LOL.....:grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning::rolling_eyes::rolling_eyes:

Beers that I might like to try being extremely limited in production and more often than not missing out

Price gouging on beers that are already expensive and craft beer enthusiasts feeding in to said price gouging by disregarding some of the outrageous prices that are out there

The fact that brewers nowadays just try to out-extreme one another instead of making a solid beer
