This is all that I have seen http://host.madison.com/entertainme...cle_cd3d5cc5-8f74-5705-aec5-405008d58843.html

Otherwise the name was made up. But the VSB name was also incorrect (bottle says sour fruit, NG website calls it sour fruit http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/index.cfm/beers/ourbeers/beer/sour-fruit.) So whatever the beer containing peaches it's really called it will be known as VSP around here.

Here's what I heard from my (generally reliable) sources, all rumors at this point:
    • Peach only
    • It was in the bottle as of a week or so ago. Not sure when exactly it was bottled,
    • 3 palates of cases, roughly three or four courses high, maybe 13 or so 12-bottle cases per course. 1500 bottles seems like a nice round number
    • Possibly only Saturday release (I don't believe this one, but time will tell).

For what it's worth, my sister picked up some Scream for me from Otto's on Brown Deer RD last Thursday and they still had a couple cases.

If there are any New Glarus folks following along with this thread, please don't do this. This would be an enormous mistake. Please continue to spread out the release across multiple days, if possible.

I can't think of any reason to do this, except that they did a 2 bottle per person per day limit the last two years. This would in theory get the beer into the hands of more people.

I know that in 2010, they released the Kriek and Gueuze all on one day, and the MHTG people who were working the GTMW missed out. This was supposedly the original rationale for spreading the release across multiple days.

What if there is enough for everyone to get like 8 bottles though? Or can you not make it on Saturday?

New Glarus referred to the beer as Very Sour Blackberry several times last year on facebook, including when announcing the release. So they are actually the ones who perpetuated that name.

My concern is if you release everything on one day, you'll have folks starting to line up very early, line will wrap around the brewery, line cutting will take place, lots of butthurt will rain down, the war with us FIBs will escalate, etc.

If you spread the release across multiple days, at the very least the butthurt is spread across a hypothetically smaller base, as you have individuals who pick up a few bottles not going back on Day 2 or Day 3, etc.

Again, my source was a little fuzzy on the detail as to when the bottle would go on sale, and I think it's worked pretty well the last few years, so I don't think they would change it without a really good reason for doing so.

The debacles as places like Hunaphu Day and Dark Lord Day (2009/2010) are well documented. The NG Sour R&D releases have gone very well over the last two years. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It was actually called Very Very Sour Blackberry, too.

When do they typically post details about the release? Weeks or days in advance?

Just got back from my WI trip. Not really into the fruits or sours so just decided to pick up the mixed 12 since I've never had any NG beers before. Moon Man was really good and Spotted Cow was good. Two Women was just ok and didn't care for Back 40 Bock. I didn't really have time to get out and search out anything. Hopefully next year I can try to hunt down Scream DIPA or give Oud Bruin a shot.

Right, and I totally agree with you, I was just being optimistic about it possibly running smoothly.

It ain't broke til it's broke. Unfortunately for beer releases, laissez faire only works until demand reaches a certain point. Most breweries don't realize it until it's too late.

The best solution to this is what some breweries have begun to do with ticketed releases (i.e. Alesmith, Lost Abbey, Founders). Buy a ticket that guarantees the bottle(s), set a release day and allow pickups anytime from release day through the next week. Makes it easier on everyone.

Heading up to the Dells this weekend, anything worthwhile to pick up, besides the usual fruit beers and spotted cow

Fresh Moon Man is delicious and is available at Discount Liquor. They also have the fresher batch of Scream. Dancing Man is very solid.
