This is great news, and I think show's their growth and success. Cheers to them and not having to have wads of cash.

This is bad news. Very bad. For my bank account. It used to be that I needed to budget it out because it had to be cash. Now... oh man... now I can buy max allotment on anything and pretend I still have money.

This typically happens AFTER the transaction. So unless you are going through the line more then once you wont have the issue. This also is a bit ridiculous. I've only ever had the bank flag purchases a handful of time and it was always for LARGE amounts of purchases over a period of time in a certain are or when someone hacked my account and shopped online. There is little chance that your few purchases at Hill Farm will set off the account to freeze. I've traveled all over the country and hardly ever have the issue(as in maybe once or twice over 15 years) Same thing when I used to go up to Waterbury and buy beer at multiple places in multiple store in large amounts in quick succession including bars.

What makes one bourbon barrel better than another besides the liquid inside? I found hand selected to be a funny description.

I traveled to Portland, OR and went nuts. No issues.

Well Shaun Hill would be a good person to ask, or any good blender. I dont think its the shtick of ultra-rarity by way of acting like you are doing something. I think they actually have to select certain qualities out of barrels, and its not as easy as you might think. An article from Nepenthiology gave me a little insight on this.

Agreed. Depends on what bourbon was in those barrels, how many times those barrels were used, etc... Some bourbon barrels provide a lot of alcohol heat, others provide softer, oakier flavors. I think NuclearRich made some good observations.

Just as a point about the credit cards they are accepted ,but if you are looking to get through line a little quicker cash is still king !! I was there Friday and as we stood in line they were asking people if anyone was paying cash , several people that had cash were able to bypass part of the line .So just a heads up as of Friday if you still pay in cash it may shave some time off your visit .

How long is the average wait for growler fills on a weekday? Last time i was there it was about one and a half hours, but that was last july 2013.

This happened to me. I was able to hop over the two people in front of me by paying cash. I arrived at 12:15 on Thursday afternoon and waited about two hours. While I was there, the line never got any longer as when I first joined it. I imagine you would have good luck getting there around 3:00 to 4:00 on Weds or Thurs, although this is pure speculation on my part and I'm sure there can be significant variation in wait times from day to day.
