Yea I have heard mixed things about the 08. Some said it was almost a drain pour others said it was the best of the vert. I might take them to some tasting as sadly I am the only one of my friends that really like the dark stuff

had a tasting at my place in March with a 09-12 vertical. nothing was a drain pour except for the infected '10 that was oxidized to shit. '11 was the consensus favorite.

Also FWIW, Darkness dropping in October and it's a local to me... :grinning:

Also Barrel Aged this year, supposedly. (though the smart money is on a blend).

I think I'm actually going to head out to Darkness Day this year. Have actually never been.

Nice, I live in the west burbs but have friends in Munster and Dyer so I'm out that way somewhat often. Think a bottle share is in order since all those bums in the PA-NY-NJ area are having a meet up.

I am down for bottle shares. Ive been trying to get to one in NWI but it hasnt worked out yet. The other thing to get past is telling the GF that im going to drink beer with "stragers" and her not flip a lid. Anyone else have this issue and how did they get past it?

Funny story...I went to Denver,Colorado for my daughters volleyball tournament this year. I just finished a trade with someone from the Denver. He wanted to meet for a beer. My wife thought I was crazy to meet a stranger. But I went anyway and had a great time with a person that I would have never otherwise met. We went to a couple places and had a great time. Probably places I would have never seen. She was happy when I called her to come get me as I was still safe. Like I told her...who in the hell would want me anyway

Usually, I just bring her... My wife has almost as many untappd check-ins as me.

That's been my strategy. And when I am off by myself doing a trade, she knows she'll end up getting some of the beer anyway so she's all for it...

my wife has gone from not liking beer at all to loving Backwoods Bastard, NG Thumbprint Apple Ale, and CCB Cubano Style. Now she has to try a sip of everything to see if she will have a full one herself. Its a long war not a short battle ...

When I traveled to Houston on business and wanted to add an extra day to the trip to drink beer with strangers, my wife begrudgingly went along with it, but her main point of contention was the cost of an extra day, and the lack of support she'd have with me out of town for that much longer. The fact that it was strangers I'd be drinking with, and a stranger that was going to drive my ass all around the city (thanks again @wiingman!) didn't really bother her ... I guess the fact that I'm 6' and 360# leaves her thinking I'm unlikely to be stuffed in the trunk of someone's car (thanks again @wiingman!).

That said, when I suggest that I have BAs (even one's I've met in person before) over the house, she's much more skeptical, and I have yet to get past that. Since we have 1 and 3 year old kids in the house, I also don't blame her too much, but I'm sure I'll get there in time as I get to know people better.

When I was in Portland a month ago visiting my sister-in-law and her husband (who's a BA), we were welcomed into multiple random people's houses and random bottle shares. Never underestimate the kindness of BAs!

At 5'7" 143lbs, I'm a bit more likely to get shoved in a trunk. I need to find someone like you to be my bodyguard.

I sure don't, but she's wary of people that she's never met.
