Stone just posted this image (among others) on their Facebook page:

"Recently, Stone Co-founder Greg Koch kicked off a speech on our upcoming#Berlin brewery by disposing of some macro-lagers from countries spanning the globe in a most unique way. Cheers to #craftbeer...and forklifts!"

What do you guys make of this? Craft beer evangelism or a waste of beer?

Makes me wonder what the reaction would be on this site, if a large lager brewer pulled the same stunt with a stack of "craft" beer.

All those green bottled beers in the bright sun? He was just putting them out of their misery...

    /sniff waste not want not.
If you don't like a beer you give it to someone who will, you cook with it, you try a weird hippy hair rinse, or you make a slug trap to put behind your hostas in your garden.
It's a marketing thing I reckon and I am not who they are chasing - out of my distribution area.
Now if I was a big boy brewer and I saw they did this I would be thinking:
"Super, thanks for the free press. Also thanks for spending money on my product."

IMO Stone is coming out with too many varieties . Store I frequent had about 4-5 new ones yesterday that I've never seen.

Publicity stunt in keeping with their carefully crafted "arrogant" image as rebels and underdogs who happen to be opening a European brewery. Keep it small and local guys! /sarcasm

I'd rather drive a huge forklift and smash macro lagers with boulders than drink skunked beer. That sounds a lot more entertaining. Then once the job's complete I'd celebrate with an Arrogant Bastard.

    My main questions are:
    1) Are they still asking for donations to 'kickstart' this brewery location?
    2) If so, can I still donate, and will that money be efficiently used to buy and smash more pallets beer?
    3) Is this how they dispose of their own out of date beers?

More power to the breweries who don't need to resort to this sort of thing.

I was trying to identify the individual bottles. I have too much time on my hands apparently. I see FAXE, Olde English and Beck's in there.
