We all would I think, but can't find KBS on the shelf to do that instead unfortunately. Is what it is, I'll get a growler if they still have it once I'm there

I guess it pays off to stash a few bottles then.

I agree. Unless you've got a buddy who has never had it and you're going to each down 16 oz that night. Then I'd say go for it. That's why I wish that keg had gone to Sugar Maple, Romans, Burnhearts, or Palm Tavern. That way you can have a few really fresh glasses and it might even stick around until the next day. Lots of folks would get to try it. Nothing against Ray's, but it's not the best way to sell BBA Stouts or Barleywines.

KBS was tough this year. Landed a 4-pack by dumb luck and another single from a shop I frequent often. Could have very easily gotten none at retail.

If anyone wants to trade a single for a BCBBW or BCBCS, I'd be game.

I consistently get 3x4pks a year. I don't even bother with checking locally, pays to have awesome trading partners.

That'll be next year for me. Two years ago I was in Cali, wasn't really trading much given that all I was drinking was IPA's. Building a decent cellar now, and sending some KBS love back to friends in CA. I don't think KBS tops CW 16 (even without coffee) or fresh Peruvian Morning (sadness). But I do like it more than BCBS, on pure drinkability.

Speaking of BCBS, if any of you are free on Saturday, Goose Island is having a great fundraiser/anniversary party featuring several BCBS variants. Just search for them on Brown Paper Tickets. Rare, Prop, Backyard Rye, etc. It's pricey. But it looks pretty great.

    Fantastic Founders Friday!
    Friday, August 3rd
    5PM - 8PMish

Let's be honest...There's not much to say about this Growler Gallery Gala. Founders Brewing is coming the Gallery, and we'll be tapping some amazingly rare gems. Game on, friends.

    Here's the line-up:

    - All Day IPA
    - Red's Rye IPA
    - Backstage Series Smoked Porter

    - Sumatra Mountain Brown (the base beer of Frangelic Mountain!)

    - Cellared 2013 Backwoods Bastard (32oz fill only)

    and...

Drum Roll Please...the one, the ONLY

    - KBS (32oz fill only)

There are going to be many questions but the most pressing question probably is:

Q: Growlers of KBS? Are you serious? Did I die and go to Heaven?

A: It's not heaven, but it is Ray's Growler Gallery (which is pretty close)! And while you will be able to get a growler fill of the legendary KBS, in an attempt to spread around the beer love, KBS will be limited to ONE 32oz fill per household only. Please note, with such finite quantities available, no samples will be given of either KBS or the Cellared Backwoods Bastard.

Q: What time will the legendary KBS be tapped?

A: Everything from Founders will be unleashed precisely at 5PM. Please note, just as with the Growler Gallery Opening Day, ONLY 30 folks will be allowed in the Gallery at a time, so there is a small chance that you may have to wait before entering. For any folks that arrive before 5PM specifically for our Founders Takeover, we will be forming a line on the North Avenue entrance, to be as fair and equitable as possible.

Ah- I meant I'd trade a KBS to get my hands on a BCBCS.

Gotta love my wife. Told her about the event tonight (slowly slipping it in during casual conversation). Her response "see if you can leave work early and get in line, as you know they'll be peeps there waiting". She knows the drill

We assume there will be a line. We don't know when it will form. Employees aren't allowed to touch KBS, so hopefully enough of you guys/gals get this brew. "Good luck" - Taken Voice

Nice username! What a damn shame no Alpine this year. Gave me an excuse to finally hit up SPAC however.

Per Beermenus, a 32oz pour of KBS will be $25 (equal to paying roughly $9.50 /12 oz bottle).
Pretty steep, but that's beer hype for ya.
