you may have a point, but going by the crowd and traffic at 7 yesterday compared to mago tago releases it might last a bit longer

I wasn't really trying to make a point, but rather try to find out if it will be on when I get there after work today. I saw they put something else on today but there was no mention of what went off.

Does it get super crowded around 7? I'm hoping to stop in on my way into Philadelphia from DC and am hoping to just grab a growler to go

Hey all. Just got back from another joyous trip to TH. Got growler fills of uyawa pog and a blueberry IPA. Anyway, my TH trips are usually my weekend daddy getaways where wifey takes care of the kids and I take a couple hours of me time. Well, this time we decided to try and make it a family event...I was thinking that the kids would love the grilled cheese. Unfortunately, there was a long wait when we arrived, so we got our growlers filled and took a walk. We walked about 200 yards and found a really cute little thin crust pizza joint called Jules. The pizzas were excellent. Mostly organic sourced local ingredients. Very friendly staff.

The best part? It is byob. We showed them our growlers and they handed us some very nice wine glasses with which to imbibe. So, wifey and I hauled in our TH growlers and had an awesome pizza and beer experience.

Long story short...if TH is packed like it usually is, there's local byob options right around the corner where you can enjoy the beer right away. I was wondering if other folks had thought of doing that also.

Funny part is the look that Jean gave me when I returned on our walk back and replenished a growler which had today's date on the fill tag.

I did this before, but went to Barbacoa instead. It's a BBQ place so it doesn't open as often as a pizza place. Will check out Jules next time for sure.

I thought growlers were 1/person/day/beer. Did you fill it up with the same beer?

It is supposed to be 1 per person/day/beer so that's what the look was for

Both Phacoman and mythaeus, it is interesting that you both addressed options for food locally when TH is so crowded. I believe that this is the reason that Jean is building not only a production brewery three blocks from the current location, but also is including an additional brewpub. His concept is to provide a totally different beer and food menu at the new location to differentiate the beer and food experience at the current brewpub. I would also suspect that the new brewpub will be more family-friendly. So, I would not be surprised if you see flatbreads, BBQ, brats, pasta, etc as part of the food menu and probably some more "traditional" beer styles at the new brewpub as well. But, I am sure that both Hop Hands and Farm Hands will also be routinely on tap.

From what you both have stated, Jean's concept sounds like it should be very successful. I look forward to visiting the new brewpub when it opens next year and ultimately buying some 16-oz cans of Hop Hands to enjoy when the new canning line is installed and becomes operational.

Well, he never said he got the growler filled with the same beer. I assume Jean gave him the look because how often do you see someone come back in the same day for another growler fill? Can't imagine it's often.

Rumor had it that the new facility will have Mexican-inspired food... But you know rumors.

Great idea, thanks for sharing. Might have to take my own wife and kids to do that next weekend!

Exactly, it was the date that threw him off. I got my 2L of uyawa pog and my wife got her 1L of uyawa pog. Then, we drank the 1L of uyawa pog at Jules. On the way back, we reloaded the 1L with the blueberry IPA....I think it's called watching trees decompose. Interesting, the blueberry is very subtle.

Has it been verified that they're actually going to be canning beers? I keep hearing different things regarding the production aspect of the new spot.

From what Jean has told me, yes. Not sure if it will be immediately or not.

Jules not only makes fantastic thin-crust pizzas with some really great, interesting topping choices, but they also have gluten-free crust for folks with Celiac. Just an extra bonus to an already-awesome place. We go often, although still haven't been to the Ardmore location (we usually go to Doylestown or Jenkintown).

Not to derail this thread, but is the food worth it? My GF lives in Bensalem, but if we ever wind up near any of the locations it may be worth dropping in.

I hated my visit to Tired Hands. Both the OP and his friends will like it, though, if they favor arrogant bar tenders, lame to-go food policies, and that general "you care about us more than we care about you" customer service philosophy.
