And yeah, the wax odor is awful. I thought it was the cashier's breath until I smelled it in my car. Had to wash my hands to get rid of the smell.

 

I doubt it will sell out that quick since there is almost no buzz for this release.

 

Yes. It's worth it. I was gun shy too because of reviews and the wax smell but it turned out to be a very good beer.

 

Hopefully there will be some left tomorrow night.

 

The wax smells like the type of wax you make when you melt glue sticks then add crayons. Its a bitch of a wax to pull off(depends on the ratio) and it does smell horrible.

 

Gabriel's just got reloaded with 10 more cases. The first shipment disappeared pretty fast.

 

I stopped at Specs on my lunch break today and saw some of this on the shelf. Yes, I smelled the wax. Yes it is disgusting. No, I didn't buy any.

 

Am I the only one who is 100% positive that the "wax" is plastic, I mean that is just a bottle dipped into a plastic, I don't mind it, but it is. Smells bad, but beer is solid. Worth trying for sure not my style but I wouldn't pour it out ever.

Plastic smells like horrible but I bought two bottles; one to taste one to trade. If anyone elsewhere wants, let me know.

I expect it won't taste too bad though, UNO was pretty nice IIRC.

 

as stupid as this sounds i just pulled the bottle i have from the fridge to smell it.

havent opened anything or drank it, but the wax smells like fucking melted wax.

I think we just need to concentrate on the BEER, the wax is what you make it.

or you guys just need to sniff more wax.

 

hmm... wondering if the wax/plastic "ass" smell mellows with age...

the beer is pretty good. I would almost recommend drinking this one fresh due to the dry hopping

Good to know brother, i think ill crack this one after i finish this Troubadour Obscura.

 

I had it a recently. I am a fan of the OPA and this tasted like a graduated version. Very smooth drinking like from a cask. I could pick up the flavor of the oak which paired nicely with the hop aroma. The guy at Specs recommended to peel off the wax outside. I then poured the beer, recycled the bottle, washed my hands and went back out. No funky smell.
