Seems it's been available in bottles at the brewery for a couple days, but will be on tap starting this Saturday at their "release party." Assuming bottles are headed to all of the typical spots after that? Don't really have time to head down this Saturday and curious how many people they'll actually be able to fit in the tasting room...

From the looks of it, though, seems like a nice good beer. Curious how it will compare to Citra side-by-side. Same style and same ABV (5.5%), though obviously very different hop profiles.

Ah, good to know -- assumes that means regular distribution then. Will be on the lookout around Santa Monica and Venice.

If it's anything like Societe's Citra to Mosaic (The Bachelor) comparison, then Mosaic will kick it's @$$. As a stand-alone hop I really like Mosaic more.

Sunset Beer Co. posted that they had it in yesterday as well.

So is ESBC doing a mini version of Noble's Shower & Societe's the Bachelor series? I think ESBC Citra is okay. Haven't had it in awhile. Is it in the same price range as Noble's Showers?

Yeah, I can get ESBC Citra on tap at several spots in Santa Monica for $6, and bottles for $6-7 all over.

More info on this beer from their email bulletin about the release party:

    Remember Mayberry?
Well.. if you loved Mayberry, then this is your Pale ale.

There was a reason why we said we couldn't brew Mayberry any longer back in March, this is what we were holding out for. Middle of summer, SoCal heat is starting to get oppressive, and we wanted to bring you something refreshing and new. Using the same hops that we did in Mayberry, this time in a Pale ale, the result is lip-smacktastic. Base is the same as Citra, we just swapped the hops. No Citra, All Mosaic double dry-hop. Its a beautiful thing. No, scratch that, a deliciously amazing thing. Liquid "Yes". Yes, I wanna drink this all day long. And yes, I can. Praise and glory to the hop gods for this wonderful new variety!

We still love Citra, and its not going anywhere. But Mosaic Pale is a limited run and a fun way to explore new hop varieties. We have a few batches to run over the next couple months, so get your fill while its here.. because when its gone, your waiting till January for your next fix from this fabulous new flower.

Its a damn tasty pale ale...borderline session IPA. Reminds me of Fortunate Islands a little as well.

Anymore reviews, thoughts or remarks on this newest bottle from ESBC? I was going to go try Karl Strauss's newest session IPA NZ Pacifica Session, but a friend got back and said it wasn't worth it. So I'm waiting for my local to get some new Mosaic Pale in. I'm not going out to search for it.

Had a bottle on Friday. I dig it, definitely reminded me more of a Session IPA rather than a Pale because the body is so light. One of those "Hop Water" beers, where you get a lot of nose and hop bitterness but not too much else.

I'd say you get that from the a Mosaic hops.

I wouldn't say that necessarily. Yeah the intense nose is characteristic of Mosaic, but I've had other single hop pales (Pfriem) where there was a more dynamic flavor and fuller mouthfeel - but that would be due to the malt character. I think it's just part of this trending characteristic of fully focusing on hops, while presenting as little malt character as possible (think Go To). Sometimes done well, sometimes done poorly. This was pretty good.
