Hi F*ckin' Res. It's No doubt, although the rest are all good to excellent. No offense to Founders, who I generally love, but Devil Dancer isn't a triple IPA; it's a damn hoppy barleywine. Hi Res is the only beer I've had which deserves that title, and I've tried many. I AM enjoying a good bit of the Rad right now, as well. Congratulations, Sixpoint; you've created the whopping second summer seasonal I've ever liked, besides Southern Tier's Hop Sun... XD

2012 not 2013? I would've bought it anyway. It's 10% so those dates mean nothing. If I were you I'd go back and pick it up.

    draft this year!

No, that is wrong. We had not even brewed that beer until 2013 so you must have read that wrong. I'd say pick it up!

"You can't always get what you want...."

you keep drinkin' em, we'll keep makin' em...

lookin' forward to what you guys think of the 2015 Hi-Res...

Sitting down with my first of the new Bengali reformulation.

All I can say is bravo....fuckin' bravo man....

The piney, floral nature is still there, but whatever you did to the hop bill added a serious juicy undernote that is just a great way to round it out. Do I note a more distinct Simcoe presence, or is it just me?

Did you folks also adjust the malt bill? I only ask because the mouthfeel seems different as well. A little drier (a good thing) and even more refreshing.

You've basically changed this from a "Hey, this is really good, I'll pound a couple of these" into a "Wow, this is really good, I could session the hell out of this"

Thanks for noticing, and YES, you have very astute taste. We spent about 2 years coming up with ways that we could enhance the body/mouthfeel of the beer, as well as the hop flavor and aroma. Continuous improvement = always making things better. It is the ultimate satisfaction to see customers appreciating the hard work.

I enjoy most all their beers, but i dont like how they try and shroud their beers in mystery..

Some people misunderstand the reasoning behind your former adherence to the idea of not listing a pre-conceived style on your packaging. They don't get the idea that it is your way of attempting to avoid pigeon-holing yourself for potential customers who are more apt to buy one particular style or another. These people believe that you create artificial hype and/or unnecessary confusion by doing this.

At least, that's my understanding of what was meant by that.

Plus, the new packaging contains a style description anyway...so it's a moot point.

Bengali, for example, clearly states "IPA" on the side of the packaging now.

    1) the operative phrase is "former adherence" - since all new packages have the style guideline on the package, plus a narrative about the beer, plus the specs, plus a detailed description, this seems like a moot point now doesn't it? As a matter of fact, shouldn't we be lauding the new innovations rather than dwelling on the past?

    2) re: artificial hype... perhaps if everyone just focused on the liquid we could circumvent those issues. Drop me a line if you want to discuss liquid over a beer.

    cheers!

Maybe if you sent some of these new innovations to southern PA, I would laud them.

Where are you exactly? We'll put you in touch with the right places. Just provide a zip code, you can do this via private message if you don't want to clutter up this thread.

Resin has always been a fave of mine, but recently seems the recipe has been tweaked and is not as balanced.....a bit on the sweet side. I want my DIPA's to rock the hops while delivering a balance of sweetness that allows me to consider having more than one. The recent recipe seems to have me wanting to grab something else afterwards to get my hop fix.
