    Happy Colorado Day!

Who's kicking off August with a brew day? The brewing partner and I are brewing up 10 gallons of Koelsch; spliiting up the batch with WLP029 German Ale/ Kölsch Yeast and Inland Island INISBC 571 Kolsch Yeast. What about y'all?

EDIT: Also anxiously waiting to see which AK recipe is decided upon. Very excited to brew this beer soon!

I just got some golden naked oats and I have no idea what to do with them. Would an Amarillo saison be a good place to use them? A brett trois IPA? Any ideas?

No brewing for me. I will transfer my 16 gallons of Belgian Blonde into my new (to me, it was used by a winemaker) 14 gallon wine barrel to age on 7 Brett strains and a few Lacto strains. Also need to bottle my Mango Berlinerweisse and maybe even my cherry Oud Bruin.

There's no law against using a carmel/crystal malt (which GNO is) in a saison. But be aware that if you like your saisons very dry, this would be counterproductive to that.

I brewed yesterday. Unfortunately I had to adapt my intended recipe from a mixed fermentation saison with WLP 566 and Brett Trois, single hopped with Nelson, to one of a mixture of Southern Hemisphere hops due to my LHBS being out of Nelson. Trying out a few new varieties that I'm not at all familiar with, in this beer, so we'll see how it turns out.

    8 lbs Pilsen
    1.5 lbs Red Wheat
    0.5 lbs Acidulated Malt

    .5 oz Rakau @ 60
    1 oz Australian Summer @ 10
    .5 oz Rakau @ 0
    1 oz Nelson Sauvin @ 0

I'm going to dry hop it with an ounce each of Galaxy, Australian Summer and Rakau for 5 days.

Well I was gonna brew but it looks like this weekend weather isn't going to cooperate. And sadly I don't have a shelter to brew safely under.

Brewing some experimental 1 gal batches. Brewed an american wheat (lots of cascade) last night, and brewing a nelson sauvin IPA right now. Both will get apricots in two weeks. Probably move my 20%+abv imperial stout to secondary on Sunday. Maybe brew a lambic base tomorrow and tuck that away for a while.

Just chillin... I'm in the unusual situation of having a fridge full of kegs, due to a planned party that will not happen. I will try very hard to drink down the APA and IPA but brews for the near future will be strong/bottled/aged.

Bottling a Saison and Pliny clone.

Also brewing a Saison Rye (80% pils/20% rye) with DuPont and Blaugies yeast. Both strains were 9 weeks old so I got out the starter-flasks yesterday. The DuPont jumped out of the gate in less than two hours . . . but the Blaugies showed nothing after eight hours of stir-plating. I slept in fits, but woke up this morning to a magnificent dome of krausen over Monsieur Blaugies. Also possible this brew may see the bottom of an Orval bottle . . .
