Boulevard Brewing (Kansas City, MO) recently released the first offering in their new Backroads Series, Entwined Ale. The series is described as “journey off the beaten path.” A little fun for both the drinker and the brewer.

Poised to be the next release is Boulevard Hibiscus Gose. The German-style salt beer uses hibiscus flowers, coriander, and of course, sea salt.

Expect Boulevard Hibiscus Gose in 12oz bottles.

Style: Gose (Hibiscus, Coriander, Sea Salt)
    Availability: 12oz Bottles
    Arrival: TBA

I know goses are all the rage right now, but personally, I'm super excited to try this one. As far as I'm concerned, the more beers Boulevard releases that have sour flavor profiles, the better. I know they are very different styles, but Love Child and Foeder Projekt are/were both outstanding.

Glad to see Gose becoming mainstream, I'll definitely try this one.

Update from the Boulevard Faecebook page, this will hit Kansas City on 8/18 and other cities soon thereafter:

Also, I'm assuming it will be six packs, as it's part of the Backroads Series and the last one in that series (Entwined) was in sixers. I think the Smokestack beers are the only ones that come in four packs as far as Boulevard is concerned.

I agree, I imagine they will use the same SKU as the Entwined Ale which would mean six pack bottles.

Had a taste of this at the SN Beer Camp in Chicago last weekend. Color of a rosé with a beautiful hibiscus bouquet. A tasty treat indeed!

love the gose and looking forward to this. didn't care for the entwined but really haven't had a grape/wine beer that was all that great either.

Entwined was really damn cool, after passing it up numerous times I finally tried it. This one sounds even better. Hibiscus can either work or not, Widmer's Marionberry Hibiscus Gose wasn't all that impressive, but I have more faith in Boulevard.

Albeit I'm happy to see Boulevard to put out something like this, I'm not a huge fan of Coriander. I hope it's used sparingly.

The two main distinguishing ingredients to a gose are coriander and salt. I hope they used the hibiscus sparingly.
