May as well make a thread about it. Will it be a Lager or an Ale?

Hoping it's a lager and it doesn't taste like pumpkins.

I'm glad it's in October, and not August.

Do you mean taste like spices that are supposed to remind you of pumpkin? I would think a real pumpkin beer would have a squash like flavor, which I may even enjoy.

A pumpkin sour as a Thumbprint release would be pretty spectacular.

Uhh, be careful what you wish for...Friend accidentally bought a bottle of Jolly Pumpkin's Pumpkin Ale thinking it was from this year's batch. It started gushing upon opening, which led me to check the bottling date...March 2013. It sort of worked, if you like a vegetal sour taste...Turned into a drain pour after a few sips.

Knowing NG though, they could probably pull it off well, if intended.

I guess I mean I hope he uses pumpkins only as a fermentable sugar source but the beer doesn't resemble pumpkins or pumpkin spice at all. I just am not a fan of pumpkin beers, though I will certainly give anything Dan makes a fair chance.

I'm not a fan of Pumpkin beers, but MKE's Sasquash Pumpkin porter is pretty dang good. I'm hoping this pumpkin beer doesn't take Fat Squirrel's spot as an autumn seasonal, cause that was released in October last year

Not giving up on the spiced beers is he? lol

Well I imagine this one will sit around forever like his last few attempts at spiced ales. At least this one has a gimmick that may persuade people to buy it, particularly with an October release. Like others mentioned, if it doesn't taste like pumpkin (spices) it just might be good.

Meh. Pumpkins are only good in pies.

So if Dan Carey is reading, here is what I take from this thread.

Sour Announcement - The BA community jizzes on their collective screens.

Non-Sour Announcement - A collective sigh of disappointment and disapproval from the BA community.

I think it is time for a BIG IPL to stoke complete outrage like Founders!

This would be fantastic. Last year was awesome for pumpkin beers with Whole Hog Bourbon Barrel and Lakefronts 25th anniversary aged in Korbel barrels.. just cracked one..

I'd love a sour Thumbprint from NG.

Weird, I age those all the time and love em with at least a year on it. Most JP brews gush if you're not careful too.

Hehe that sums it up pretty well. Though speaking for myself, I would have preferred pretty much anything over yet another spiced beer. For one 1. don't like spiced beers of any sort, and 2., they sit on the shelves forever because apparently nobody else likes them either, lol. I still see the spiced ale on shelves around the state.
