I used to pick up kegs of Gorilla Warfare, Otis and others at the brewery. Gorilla Warfare takes the cake for me. Or maybe Brownstone on cask. They had a dubbel that was pretty stellar as well.

Its funny you say that because we are getting comments that the Resin is now way hoppier and people would prefer that it would be more maltier. Is it possible that both groups of people are right?

There is only one objective reality, but perception is in the eye of the beer-holder. ;-)

Who wants it maltier?! I say more hops!

I like it the way it is. I just bought a ton of it. In fact I had a can of resin dated to expire in september of 2014 and one that was dated to expire sometime next year and they were equally good. We had them, side by side glasses for lunch. =) I am not usually this kind to beer that is not from Ithaca so there's that.

In the week I have lived in Dover I have tried Rad, The Crisp, Sweet Action and Bengali. I have liked all of them but The Crisp would be 1 as of right now. After living in Germany the past three years I have come to appreciate well made lagers and it doesn't disappoint. As the name says it is crisp and refreshing. My opinion could very well change next week or when I get a chance to try Resin (which I haven't found yet with the app) or Apollo if available locally on draft.

    Top notch brews @Sixpoint

It really is crazy - some people write us and tell us to tone down the hops, and others write us and say they need more hops in the beer. One thing is clear - you will never make a beer that will satisfy EVERYONE. When you try to make a beer to satisfy everyone, you lose. You end up with watered down beer designed to please the masses. Brew for taste, not for focus groups!

Really glad you tracked some down. Our wholesaler helped us out in that. Thanks!

Have you had the Express? That is an OG, made back in 2004.

The highest of compliments! We look forward to sharing with you some more formulations in the pipeline....

I've only tried one - the Resin, and it was tongue-crushingly bitter, and yes my name is DoktorHops :stuck_out_tongue:

Meaning it was devastatingly palate crushing, or delightfully balanced in almost a sadistic way? ;-)

Most definitely the second one - it was great, though since having the 167 IBU monster-that-isn't-a-monster "Tuatara Double Trouble" I think there is some Hop finesse that US brewers can be learn from Kiwi brewers...

Resin is my favorite offering from Sixpoint, followed by Bengali Tiger.

sadly I never got the chance to pick up Hi-Res before it disappeared, but Resin, Bengali, and Sweet Action are all top notch choices, I say, with Resin just edging the other two out. I also like the fact that Sixpoint has such an active presence here, actually engaging with consumers.

On the whole Can vs. pour debate...it's a toss up to me. I admit I've often had craft brews directly from the can (especially if I'm at Citi Field in the middle of the day and I want to keep my beer out of the sun) but if 6P's official word is to pour it, then I shall. If a can of Bud Light told me to pour it, I would pour it...down the drain. But I quite respect Sixpoint, so I'll listen to them.

Resin is definitely a fave. Didn't see any Bengali when I was on the Mainland but wished I had as I had last year's and really loved it. Hi Res was good as well.

Please tell us more about this hop finesse you speak of - we must learn how to properly balance our beers over here!! ;-)

It died, went to heaven, and was reincarnated as the Barrel Aged 3Beans :-)

have you tried the entire lineup?

have you tried the Bengali in 6packs yet?

Get that man a Resin glass! :-)

how are you getting the brews out in Hawaii?

Keep the hi res coming. Its not the abv its the balanced flavors all in one gulp. Hops, citrus an slight pine resin all comes together at once and watch out for the buzz factor later.

I honestly have no idea how Tuatara did it but 167 IBUs and it tastes less bitter than a Bridgeport Kingpin (which is nearly half the IBUs at 87).

One thing the bottle label says is "too many hop varieties to list" and when you whiff in the aroma it doesn't blow your mind, but then you have a few sips and man there is a massive variation in the hop flavours, you should definitely track down a bottle and try it... those krazy kiwis have something magic in their water, perhaps Gandalf is assisting them ;-)
