Don't think I'll be able to make the drive over. Would anyone be willing to trade me a bottle or two in person in Milwaukee? I have some Russian River stuff I could give you.

That's already my plan for Friday. I see there are actual bike trails in the area; are they not ok for road/touring bikes? I've been fine on the Prairie Path in IL, for example. /bikeadvocate

Anybody know of any good tappings or bar events happening on Saturday for the folks going to New Glarus but not to the GTOM?

Probably some good leftovers from the night before as soon as the bars open.

The two road rides that mdomask posted are fantastic routes. Scenic, not heavily travelled but pretty damn hilly. Unfortunately I am not sure if the bike trails are paved or crushed stone - google Sugar River Trail for more info.

From what I saw on Google, the trails are crushed limestone. I have the standard 700x23c tires that came with my bike, and I've popped tubes a few times when I accidentally got onto rough gravel in the Morton Arboretum or places in the city with lax street cleaning, so I stay away from crushed stone.

I like roads more than trails anyhow, so it works for me  /bikeadvocate

So for those in Madison, what time should we be getting there for the morning releases. I saw that they will begin handing out tickets at 8:30, meaning that I have to get there then and wait around for 2 hours before I can get my bottles? Last year we rolled up 30 minutes before and were within the first 125 people in line, I don't foresee that happening again this year unfortunately.

I hope that with 3x the amount of bottles (4,500 vs 1,430 bottles) that the "shitshowness" is at a minimum. I would hope that 750 people won't be in line by 10:00, but I guess we'll see.

125 people last year at 9:30. There's no way there will be 750 people by 10:00, on a Friday, when they are releasing the same number of bottles on Saturday and Sunday. Not to mention that New Glarus is in the middle of BFE. I know VSB was popular and all, but let's all try to be rational here.

Then again, my logic is based on people, within a few hours drive of NG, wanting a few bottles for themselves. If a bunch of fucknuts plan on getting bottles all three days with two mules each day, then logic goes out the window.

I think you get to the brewery around 8:30-9:00, get your number, go into to town and grab some coffee and a doughnut (Swiss Doughnut?), back to the brewery at 9:45-10:00.

    And don't be a fucknut.
