No brewing, but finally have keg space to keg up my American Brown. With any luck another may kick and I can finally keg my third (and last) Pils from this past winter.

No brewing but lots of transferring....

Racked 10.5 gallons of a bone dry hoppy saison today. 2.5 gallons into a keg, 3 gallons into a secondary fermenter along with a double IPA's worth of hops + fresh citrus zest, and 5 gallons into a secondary fermenter with the dry hops but no zest.
Sunday I rack 5 gallons of Kolsch onto 6# of fresh pineapple.

Brewing my first ever saison with a starter made from Dupont dregs. Thanks to VikeMan, jbakajust1 and dirty25 for their advice.

I was going to brew this weekend, but I had a bicycle accident on Tuesday. I injured my shoulder and I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it by myself. I'm off Monday, so I have two more days to recover.

I was going to brew a Juniper Imperial Red Ale for a festival Labor Day weekend.

Got a 5 gallon batch to bottle, "Viennese Pipe Dreams" , then Brew "Hulk SMaSH" dumping right on the yeast cake of the VPD and saving a bit of wort for a starter for a lager.

Had 16 gallons pre pitching, and transfered it all in the barrel post fermentation, and it still didn't fill the barrel. About 1/2-1 gallon shy. Had to rack some of my funkdifying keg of Saison in there to fill the head space. That's too bad. I was hoping to keep some of the clean Blonde to enter in a COC and to enjoy for myself. Oh well.

Berliner is bottled, now onto my Cherry Oud bruin.

Have a couple of homebrews and carry on.

    Seriously though, get better.

    happy Colorado day?

Funny, but I'm about to leave for Colorado for somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 weeks. Going "camping" with my mom, nephew, and niece. Well, we're not roughing it by any means, with my camper and us renting a cabin for 8 days, but I'll be there nonetheless. Hoping to squeeze in a day of craft brewery consumption of beer and perhaps whatever else might be legal and within walking distance.

Won't be brewing till I get back. The beers I have brewing will be fine till then. They are happily sitting about 62F for the two ales and lagering about 33F for the lager.

Bottled my pale ale, not the most successful brew ever, went ten points over SG and about 6 over what I wanted for FG. Still, might work as a mellow pale ale.

Onwards and upwards, hopefully a nice 6%-ish stout next weekend, repitching the same yeast and am expecting a bit better attenuation

Brewed up a Bavarian Hefe on Thurs. Fermentation was fast and furious such that it looked like the top was about to explode. Threw a blow-off tube on it and the lid still looks like it wants to go

Not brewing anything, but just transferred my pte clone to a secondary and dry hopped a few days ago. Was going to start cold crashing it today, looked at it and still had a little bit of activity in the airlock, will give it another day or two.

You still frequent Just Brew It? I haven't been able to make it to the shop in a long while.

Tomorrow, I will begin a starter for next weekend - saison. The yeast is a couple month old. MrMalty says I need a 2.9 L starter, so I'll step it up once to biggie-size it.

Not to much since Doug left, been shopping at Barely & Vine shop in stockbridge. I'll stop by Just Brew it usually if I need something last minute on my way into work.

Yeah, I miss Doug. The new guy ( can't recall his name ), is nice enough, but store seems a little odd. They didn't seem to be up to snuff on keeping stuff in stock last time I was in there.

Well, kegged the Boone's Farm Saison, as always 3711 is a beast. Even though I wanted to use a different yeast for this (LHBS was out of my 1st and 2nd choice) the hydro sample tastes really nice...going to be a good one.

I just bought a second propane burner, so I brewed 2 five gallon batches! Perfect weather for brewing inside the garage.

    I brewed a
#1 Double Chocolate Porter. I went nuts with ingredients including 6 pounds of dry malt, 2 pounds of steeped grains including 2 pounds of chocolate grains. Smells fantastic. I will probably add lactose and cold pressed coffee on bottling day for a rich, smoothe taste.

#2 And a Belgian Wit - this was a request for a friend who is getting married -- she loves blue moon, so i hope this willl make her day. I upgraded the yeast to nutrient inflused belgian wyeast to really pull out flavors of coriander and orange. Otherwise, I stuck to a kit from our local homebrew store, who makes excellent kits. I will say the color of this beer is slightly darker than I thought it would be -- It's borderline copper, and not that straw blonde color I was expecting. Still smells great.

Now, it's time for a nap

The "nutrient infused belgian wyeast" isn't anything special. Infact, it's not even nutrient infused, so I hope you don't think it'll make better beer because thats what your LHBS told you. You'll need to add the coriander and orange if thats the flavor you are going for. The yeast won't really toss those flavors.

Started brewing at 6:30 and finished up at 12. First time using the conical. Went well and was quite peaceful early in the Carolina dawn...
