A big Thank You to those that battled the storm and waited in line for Founders last night. We did not expect such a big line for what was available. To kick it off today at 11 am, we still have Dark Horse plead the 5th available. If you are going to be traveling some distance, please call ahead to make sure it is left. 32oz-$10 64oz-$19

    Thanks once again.

@Westuh Thank you!!! It was my first time @ the Growler gallery and I thought with the elements and all you guys/gals did a great job. It was organized and the staff was very friendly. Cool glassware for sale as well. The only unfortunate thing was not getting the KBS being about 4 short of scoring, but I did manage to get some of the mountain brown, which was a real treat considering it was the only keg to make it to WI. Keep up the good work, as these events are always a learning experience to gauge for future offerings.

Hey man, didn't you used to work at Otto's? When did you start at Rays?

That is correct. I used to. I was recruited to join Ray's and the Gallery in April.

Slightly off topic, but not worthy of a new thread. I've noticed some weird tastes when ordering pints at Whole Foods the past few months. Anyone know how they store their beers or how often they clean their taplines? Anyone get a growler fill their recently? Just curious, a little worried that the beer isn't being taken care of properly...

Which is definitely not the case at Ray's. As much as criticize the bigger shops in town, no doubt Ray's does the best job taking care of their beer/tap lines/customers. But please expand your liquor license to allow you to sell 2 or 4 oz pours.

Whole Foods cleans thier lines once a week and stores the kegs in a refrigerated walk-in cooler. If there is ever something funky or out of the ordinary...let someone know.

Thanks for the info. Could have been me or maybe the glasses. Next time I'm in I'll check it out.

That was some pure craziness on Friday. Drove past at 4:15 and there was already 40-50 people in line. Yikes!

That must have deterred all the hardcores since Stubby's wasn't nuts on Saturday. Strolled in there about an hour or so after they tapped KBS and there was plenty to go around. Good times for all!

hell, i was at Ray's around 3:15-3:30 to grab some Black Husky and there were people already queueing up.

guy at the checkout said there were people in the gallery just loitering, waiting for 5. he said they planned to close the gallery and kick those people out 10 minutes before 5. make them re-form in line.

Stubby's had KBS too? Did they do growler fills?
Ray's sure has this marketing thing down.

I'm not sure if they did growler fills. I actually didn't know they filled growlers at all. Good to know since they always have a great taplist.

It was their anniversary party, so they had a bunch of rare stuff on tap. KBS, Black Butte XXVI, Lakefront 25th Anniv Stout (2012 vintage), to name a few. There was something around 10 "special" choices that all rang up over 10% ABV.

But yeah it seems like they didn't do a great job marketing the event, which I was totally fine with!

We clean our lines in between each beer change to make sure each beer tastes exactly how it should. Then each week we do a deep clean on the lines as well. Clean lines = happy beer = tasty beer. On the pour suggestion, yes, we are working on it, soon.... soon....

Two of then are tap room beers. Others are seasonal minus rocky. Not bad for all the really limited barrels going to Great Taste

Ray's Growler Gallery will be dedicated to bringing Milwaukee, if not all of Wisconsin, the best, freshest, and most creative beers direct from the tap to your home. The best part about the Growler Gallery is that every single beer that we tap into will either be a beer made EXCLUSIVELY for the Gallery, a rare brewery-only release, or a special selection that will NOT be available anywhere in bottle.

A bit of hyperbole hardly ever killed anybody.

As long as karben4 stays in the rotation, I'm happy.

But Ray's, as long as you're listening, could you get some Lazy Monk from Eau Claire? Damn hard to find that down here.
