    Hey,

    Here's my situation:
I'm heading to Vegas in a few months (end of August...uggg) and I've done some limited reading on Vegas bars. It looks like there are good pubs in NYNY and the Venetian (but not cheap).

are there any other bar suggestions? and, being from Canada and having VERY limited exposure to good US craft beer, are there any beer to target that would be on the bottle/draught lists? I tend to dig sours/belgian strong and I'm not so much into IPAs.

Also wondering if, other than Whole Foods south of the strip, is there anywhere you suggest buying some nice bottles?

    Thanks in advance.

Hoppin' Frog - Expensive, but massive bottle collection.

Aces and Ales is the place to be. Those guys will treat you right, they will appreciate your business, and they always have a killer tap list and a decent to above average bottle selection!

It's Freaking Frog and the place is a ripoff. The owner recently sold a bottle of a rare yet off the shelf beer for a ridiculous price by telling people it was the last bottle in the country which is false.

Ahh yes obviously it's Freaking Frog, sorry about that. Hoppin' Frog is in Ohio! Yeah, their list is "impressive", yet when you ask about half the bottles they are "sold out". The Whiskey Attic or whatever they call it upstairs is VERY impressive, however that is extremely expensive as well. Tried to get a shot of Ardbeg Supernova when it first came out up there and they wanted $25 a shot for it...I know it's a "rare" (hardly really) bottle, and I know it costs under $100 a bottle, come on!

    awesome.
    thanks, gents.
    its appreciated.

kind of shocked, though, that a hot city like Vegas hasn't resulted in a booming craft beer industry.

Yeah, I think it's just the nature of what people tend to go there for. It's still a "free drinks and gambling" spot for a good chunk of visitors. I'd say it's changed a bit over the last few years, though. I end up going down there a couple times a year and there are definitely more craft options than there used to be. Places like the Burger Bar, Holstein's, Pour 24, and the Pub are all doing booming business in prime location and are honestly pretty good spots if you overlook the prices. I'm the last person to ask about the non-tourist spots (see Destral for that, obviously!) but the strip is getting better.

Just got back from Vegas yesterday and visited a few spots that were suggested. The whole foods at the end of the strip had a very good selection of beer and seemed to be better priced then most places. Went to Lee's discount liquor east of the strip and it seemed to have gone down hill compared to when I was there a few years ago. We also made it to pour 24 in NYNY and it was a welcoming site after seeing BMC products everywhere else. Really wanted to go to Aces and Ales but never made it. I know they ran out of Parabola on tap but still had it in bottles when we left yesterday. Overall it was a good trip though! Good luck on your search!

Atomeyes, I'm originally from Toronto, been living here in Vegas for 8 years now. If you are looking for a drinking partner/guide when you come down, shoot me a message. I wouldn't mind taking you to some of the off-strip places. Just don't ask to go to the Freakin' Frog. That place sucks! Ha!
